Center for Security Policy to give Director of Next Generation TV, Allen West Freedom Flame Award

FF Award 2013

Director of NextGeneration.TV Allen West To Receive Freedom Flame Award
Center for Security Policy recognizes individuals who exemplify the ideals of our country

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, June 6, former Congressman Allen West (R-FL), who is now PJ Media‘s Director of NextGeneration.TV Programming, will accept the Freedom Flame Award from the Center for Security Policy for his work promoting freedom, democracy, economic opportunity and international strength.

“I am honored to receive this distinct recognition and will continue to stand for the ideals of American exceptionalism and the defense of our way of life. Ronald Reagan once described America as the ‘shining city upon a hill,'” said Congressman Allen West, “that requires us to maintain freedom’s flame for this great Constitutional Republic.”

Colonel West is being honored at the 25th Anniversary of the Freedom Flame Award Dinner. The Award acknowledges the past contributions of its recipients while serving as a reminder that the goals for which they have worked so valiantly require the continuing, unflagging efforts of those who follow in their footsteps.

“Allen West’s service to our country – past, present and continuing – is an example of the courageous and visionary leadership so needed in America at the moment and in such short supply.” Said Frank Gaffney, the President and Founder of the Center for Security Policy, “The Center is privileged to recognize that service and to encourage others to emulate his example.”

The Center for Security Policy has pioneered the organization, management and direction of public policy coalitions to promote U.S. national security. The Center’s philosophy of “Peace through Strength” is not a slogan for military might but a belief that America’s national power must be preserved and properly used for it holds a unique global role in maintaining peace and stability.

Allen West “We can’t afford for our military to not be ready at a moment’s notice to defend us” #Sequester

Military_Equipment_MI-resize-380x300

Defense Department officials and military leaders warned in the months leading up to sequestration that the March 1 budget cuts would severely inhibit their readiness capabilities. Two months later, we’re seeing firsthand just how serious they were.

According to Vice Admiral William Burke of the U.S. Navy:

“Due to reduced training and maintenance, almost all of our non-deployed ships and aviation squadrons are soon going to be less than fully mission capable and not certified for major combat operations. That’s about two-thirds of the fleet.”

The Marine Corps is reporting similar readiness issues, with Lieutenant General William Tryon estimating that half of non-deployed units are at “unacceptable” levels of readiness:

“And our crisis response mission is incompatible with tiered readiness. Marines don’t start to get ready when a crisis occurs. We must be ready, we must be forward deployed and we must be prepared to respond immediately.”

We can’t afford for our military to not be ready at a moment’s notice to defend us—especially in a post-9/11 world in which American civilians were killed in a terrorist attack on U.S. soil just last month. As a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Army, I’ll be the first to tell you the Defense Department is not immune to fraud, waste, and abuse.

There are plenty of areas in which spending could be cut without impacting the readiness and morale of our troops! But across the board budget cuts that chip away at the training and equipment available to our troops sets a dangerous precedent. This is precisely why we’ve launched the Allen West Guardian Fund to elect 12 hard-charging conservatives who will fight to keep our defense and national security a top priority in Washington.

Our team will soon begin introducing the candidates we’re supporting in 2014. We’ll also be announcing various events and programs we’re planning to further the dialogue about defending America and our Constitutional values. I look forward to sharing this important information with you in the near future. In the meantime, God bless America.

Allen West sums it up in a recap of CPAC 2013, Allen West Guardian Fund and more

Dear Friends

Between launching the Allen West Guardian Fund and speaking at and attending the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) just outside Washington, DC, it’s been an eventful week. You’re probably surprised to hear from me again, but I promise I won’t ask you for money today. I simply want to recap what’s happened over the past 5 days.

  • On Tuesday, we announced the Guardian Fund and our goal to raise $5 million over the next two years to elect 12 hard-charging, constitutional conservatives to Congress. Thanks to your unwavering support and that of thousands of patriots like you, we’re well on the way to meeting our goal.
  • On Thursday, I gave one of the opening addresses at CPAC and outlined what we as conservatives must do to start winning elections again and reminded the audience why we must combat the Obama administration’s radical leftist agenda at every turn. I encourage you to check out the speech here, because the one-liners the media have reported don’t do it justice.
  • I spent the remainder of CPAC meeting with activists and listening to the concerns, ambitions, and plans conservatives across America have for the next few years. I returned home to Florida last night with a renewed sense of hope and today, my faith in our conservative movement is greater than ever.

I’m very excited about what the next two years will bring for conservatives, and of course the Guardian Fund. We have our work cut out for us, but I’m confident that our values will prevail over the radical left and we’ll succeed in our mission.

Thank you for your continued support and friendship.

Steadfast and loyal,

Allen West

The sequester is not even 24 hours upon us and POLITICO is already warning us of the next fiscal crisis: government shutdown. So is Washington even in the business of governing anymore, or has it turned into a horrible reality show? Col. Allen B. West, Michelle Fields and John Phillips discuss. WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Conservative Union (ACU) today announced that former U.S. Representatives Artur Davis and Allen West will join former Puerto Rican Governor Luis Fortuño in addressing CPAC 2013—the 40thannual Conservative Political Action Conference.

“Today I am honored to announce that Artur Davis, Allen West and former Governor Luis Fortuño will all be featured CPAC speakers in March,” said ACU Chairman Al Cardenas. “They have all served our country with distinction and I look forward to welcoming them to the stage.”

Artur Davis is a former four-term Democratic Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Alabama and a current fellow at Harvard’s Institute of Politics. A columnist, contributor, and licensed attorney in Washington, D.C., Davis previously served as a federal prosecutor with a near 100 percent trial-conviction record and as Co-Chairman of Obama for America.

Before becoming the Governor of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Governor 2008, Luis Fortuño served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2004-2008. He was the first Republican to be elected Governor of Puerto Rico since 1969, and the first Republican representative from Puerto Rico to be elected to Congress in its history.

Allen West, formerly a U.S. Representative representing Florida’s 18th Congressional District, served in the U.S. Army retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after 22 years before being elected to office. His committee assignments included the House Armed Services and Small Business Committees during the 112th Congress.

The 40th annual Conservative Political Action Conference, to be held March 14-16, 2013, at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, will provide three days of blockbuster speeches, policy discussions and networking opportunities – all celebrating the shared principles of smaller government, a strong national defense and traditional American values. The ACU has hosted CPAC in the Nation’s Capital since 1973, and it now stands as the largest annual gathering of conservatives in the country. For additional information, visit our website at conservative.org/cpac2013, on Facebook at facebook.com/CPACNews, or on Twitter at @cpacnews and #CPAC2013. Media registration (including bloggers) will open on February 1, 2013. The CPAC 2013 schedule and list of confirmed speakers will be announced in the coming weeks. Previously announced confirmed featured speakers include: U.S. Senators Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Pat Toomey, former Senator Rick Santorum and Congressman Paul Ryan.

Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization in the nation. For almost fifty years, ACU has served as an umbrella organization harnessing the collective strength of conservative organizations fighting for Americans who are concerned with liberty, personal responsibility, traditional values, and strong national defense. ACU defines conservatism, grows conservatism, and wins for conservatism.

NEW VIDEO NRCC – Congressman Allen West “This Is Our America”

Published on Oct 23, 2012 by

http://www.nrcc.org/west | For generations, we’ve understood that with a little hard work, nothing was beyond our grasp. It’s time we had a government that worked with us, and not against us. The “This is Our America” campaign shares stories from candidates and regular Americans around the country who are fired up about the 2012 election and have faith that America is bigger than it’s challenges.

We are the National Republican Congressional Committee, and our mission is to make sure Congress spends and taxes less, so the economy can get back on track.

When I think about what kind of America I want to leave for my children and my grandchildren – it’s not one that’s saddled in debt.

None of us want that.

This new video I filmed about our values, our communities and our America speaks about this.

This election means the restoration of this great Constitutional Republic. It means we will recommit to the fundamental principles and values that make us an exceptional nation.

In the Army, we didn’t leave anything to chance.

With 14 days left, neither should you: please give $10, $15 or even $30 today.

Let’s ensure we open up a new chapter in the history of this great nation.

Join me. Watch this new video and donate to help us finish strong.

It’s up to you. I know you won’t let me down.

Steadfast and loyal,

(Ret.) Lt. Col. Allen West (R-FL)

TRANSCRIPT:

The American dream very simply is the fact that a young man born in the inner city of Atlanta, Georgia 1961 now lives here. That’s the American dream. There’s no such thing as a Somali dream, a Chinese dream, there’s one dream — the American dream and that’s why people came to these shores.

Everything is at stake in this election. What America we will have is at stake in this election. I think it’s a clear-cut choice between what we are trying to represent as constitutional conservatives and what the other side is trying to represent.

A lot of people are very afraid, they’re very concerned about the fact that the American dream they’ve enjoyed and has enabled them to be where they are today may not be there for their children and grandchildren. That future, that thing we have always passed on to subsequent generations is that which is threatened right now. They want men and women who are convicted and will go out right now and go up to Washington, DC and fight for them. It just so happens I have the great opportunity to not do that anymore in camouflage uniform and boots, I get to do that now in a suit and a tie.

When I think about what kind of America I leave for my children and my grandchildren — I can’t saddle them with this debt. I can’t saddle them with the dependency society. I want to make sure they have the opportunities that I had growing up that enabled me to be here today.

November the 7th means the restoration of this great constitutional republic. It means we will go back and recommit to the fundamental principles and values that make us an exceptional nation. And it means we will once again rekindle and reignite the American entrepreneurial and indomitable spirit — that’s what November the 7th will mean. It will mean that we will open up a new chapter in the history of this great nation.

Raquel Okyay: Human Events “GO WEST!” “Allen West that is”

By: Raquel Okyay

Republican Allen West was elected to the United States Congress representing Florida’s 22nd district in the Tea Party wave of 2010.  West is the first black Republican Congressmen from Florida since 1876, when Rep. Josiah Walls left office.  He is known as rock star Republican, Tea Party Caucus stalwart and unabashed Constitutionalist.

Congressman West’s down-to-earth, southern charm reigns in supporters of all colors and cultures from both sides of the aisle.  What makes West so unique is that he is unafraid to speak his clever mind and steam rolls ahead without fear of rebuke, promoting conservative principles that often get lost in the business-as-usual attitude that plagues Washington.

West is a war hero, with more than 20 years active duty service in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel.  Respect for West in this capacity is unending.

Dr. Richard Berry explains in “A Missing Link in Leadership” the relationship West absorbed among his battalion.  “The love Lt. Col. West displayed as an individual and toward a group is quite obvious…I saw evidence of love transcending the space or relation between individuals and identified a genuine love Lt. Col. West had for an institution – the U.S. Army, and his organization – Lt. Col. West’s battalion.”

Indeed, West is a man of honor and humility, referring to his battalion as counterparts not subordinates.  “I loved my men and their protection was always my greatest consideration. We would always accomplish our assigned mission but never would I unnecessarily risk their lives, and if it called for that, then I would be there as well.”

After serving our country so well, West would go on to serve his community as a high school teacher in Florida, and serving our nation mentoring Afghanistan officers as a government contractor.  West gave us one good term as a congressman, and now he is requesting a second term from his constituents in the November election.  How does anyone say no to a proven American hero?

Rep. Allen West “The Real Fight Begins”

Dear Friend,

Today the national debt hit $16 trillion. It is fitting that this disturbing milestone would occur while President Obama, Patrick Murphy and Democrats gather in Congress to rewrite history and distract from the failed policies that have resulted in 42 months of unemployment over 8 percent and over $5 trillion in new debt added in less than four years. Since taking office, President Obama has accumulated more debt that all President from Washington through Clinton combined. The federal government isn’t just facing a financial deficit, but a leadership deficit.

With the debt hitting $16 trillion, will you donate $16 to help defeat President Obama and Washington liberals so we can begin putting an end to the debt that is bankrupting the future for our children and grandchildren?

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen West

P.S. With only 62 days to go, a contribution will help us continue to maintain the resources to counter the Democrat’s desperate disinformation campaign.

Congressman Allen West released this statement today regarding the latest unemployment report

(WASHINGTON)— Congressman Allen West (R-FL) released this statement today regarding the latest unemployment report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

“July marks the 42nd consecutive month Americans have suffered under unemployment rates of eight percent or above.

Employers are simply not hiring and why should they? President Obama has promised to raise taxes on America’s small businesses starting January 2013. President’s Obama’s healthcare law is looming over employers and threatening to fine them for every employee they do not insure. President Obama is calling for the United States military to be reduced and defense contractors are preparing to slash thousands of jobs around the country. President Obama refuses to lead or come up with any solutions to build certainty, stability or confidence among American businesses.

President Obama instead believes individuals who have built their businesses did not do it on their own.  President Obama believes we need more spending and we need to punish individuals who are succeeding in our free market system.  All one has to do is examine the tax and regulatory policies of the Obama administration to know they are counter productive to economic growth.

In the House of Representatives, we have voted over and over on job-creating legislation only to have it sit on Democrat Majority Leader Senator Harry Reid’s desk.  Just this week, a bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives voted to make sure no American family or small business sees a tax increase. In the House of Representatives, we are committed to supporting businesses and putting Americans back to work.

American families from coast to coast must realize the policies of President Obama, demonstrated once again by today’s unemployment number, are not working.  The American people have a choice between two futures. It is time to reject the  path of high unemployment and an anemic economy and instead take the path of limited government and fiscal responsibility.  This is the path our founders carved out for us, and it is the path that will lead our nation back to prosperity and economic freedom.”
