Allen West “Mayor Mia Love is about to become a household name.” @MiaBLove

You’ve probably never heard of her before, but you will soon…because Mayor Mia Love is about to become a household name.

Last summer she gave one of the most heart-felt and inspiring speeches I’ve heard at the Republican Convention and gave liberal Congressman Jim Matheson the fight of his political life in Utah’s 4th Congressional district. She lost by less than 800 votes, but fortunately for us, she’s up for a rematch.

Since announcing her candidacy in May, Mia has put Matheson and the liberal left on notice. She’s in the district every day meeting voters, participating in events, and holding Matheson accountable for voting in lockstep with Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi. But Pelosi’s radical fundraising machine is preparing to launch an all-out assault against her.

Will you stand with me today to build the arsenal the Guardian Fund will use to fight back on behalf of candidates like Mia Love? Please follow this link to donate $25, $50, $100, or more today.

Mia Love is the quintessential Guardian Fund candidate. The daughter of Haitian immigrants, Mia knows what it takes to work hard and make ends meet—and she’s living proof the American Dream still exists.

Despite coming to the United States with just a few dollars to their name, Mia’s parents never took a free handout and instilled this principle in their daughter. Today Mia is an unwavering advocate for limited government, fiscal sanity, and personal responsibility—three things desperately missing in Washington.

We need steadfast conservatives, like Mia, fighting for us in Washington and that’s why I created the Guardian Fund. Please stand with me and make sure Mia and others like her win next November by donating $25, $50, $100, or more today.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Steadfast and loyal,
Allen West

Black conservative leaders discuss how the NRA was created to protect freed slaves – SHORT VERSION

RepWest

by Allen West via Facebook

GUN CONTROL = BLACK PEOPLE CONTROL.  I proudly stand with my fellow black conservatives who are attempting to promulgate the truth. Too often the voices of the black community seem to be Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and all those who seek to deceive with empty rhetoric and victimization. It has always been the Democrat party that has promoted policies detrimental to the black community: slavery, secession, segregation, and now socialism. Hat tip to Star Parker, Niger Innis, Harry Alford and all those who will not be a part of the 21st century economic plantation, nor be relegated to blind servitude to a liberal progressive agenda bent on the destruction not just of the black community, but America. And to the mindless lemmings who continue to parrot the progressive rhetoric on these pages…keep it up chuckleheads. I’m not letting up.”

Black conservative leaders discuss the reason the NRA was founded and how gun control is an effort to control people.

The Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE) hosted a group of prominent figures from the African American community at9:45 A.M. on Friday, February 22nd at the National Press Club to speak out against gun control legislation currently being considered on Capitol Hill.

CURE is the largest black conservative think tank in the nation and is headquartered in Washington, D.C.

CURE organized the news conference in response to concerns shared by black conservatives that the Senate proposed laws will restrict their ability to defend themselves, their property and their families. They are also concerned that the proposed gun control legislation puts too much power in the hands of politicians.

“I believe that it is our duty to stand together and challenge the proposals currently on the table in the Senate, which invoke painful memories of Jim Crow laws and black codes,” said CURE president and founder, Star Parker. “Black history is rife with government demands for background checks in order to qualify for constitutional rights. All Americans should be concerned.”

Star Parker, a nationally syndicated columnist and other noted thought leaders, authors and speakers will make the case against the type of gun control measures President Obama and his liberal allies are proposing. While the group believes that Sandy Hook was a national tragedy, they oppose its use as an opportunity to advance government control and strip any American citizens of their constitutional rights. In the middle of Black History Month, CURE is calling for a serious national dialogue about the impact of gun control on the black community.

“We want to inform United States senators that we will be notifying urban pastors, business leaders and other black voters of their legislators’ position on the Second Amendment—especially blue senators in red states currently up for re-election.” The news conference is to rally behind the tradition of former slave and great American orator Frederick Douglass who said, “A man’s rights rest in three boxes: the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box.”

DAFR fights for the inalienable firearms rights of responsible disabled Americans. Disabled Americans have unique needs when exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. The mission of DAFR is intertwined within five basic areas of focus.

These areas consist of:

1. The introduction of firearms for self-defense to disabled Americans.
2. Shooting sports program and organized competition for disabled Americans and wounded veterans.
3. Oversee firearms legislation and research their impact on Americans with disabilities.
4. Offer assistance to responsible disabled Americans in order to exercise their 2nd Amendment right.
5. Educating the public and elected officials about how disabled American firearms owners have unique needs that must be met when exercising their 2nd Amendment right.

We have also become concerned with recent legislation that is proposed throughout the United States in reaction to the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. With that, our organization has taken a clear stand on various bills, public acts and proposed laws that we deem would be disadvantageous to responsible disabled firearms owners. DAFR intends to shed light on the fact that many Disabled Americans can only use certain types of firearms such as the highly adaptable AR15 rifle platform. A ban or other serious restrictions on the AR15 rifle as well as certain other firearms will have an adverse effect on the rights of thousands of disabled Americans.

Allen West: We Must Prevent Classified Technology from Reaching Chinese – Read More Here

West Calls for Congressional hearing to ensure technology is not transferred to Chinese Companies

(WASHINGTON)— Congressman Allen West (R-FL) released a statement today after sending a letter to House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Chairman Howard P. “Buck” McKeon (R-CA) requesting a HASC hearing on the safeguards necessary to ensure United States classified technology is not transferred when an American company is sold to a Chinese company.  The letter specifically draws attention to the upcoming purchase of the American company responsible for manufacturing the Enhanced Medium Altitude Reconnaissance Surveillance System (EMARSS) by a Chinese company.

“I am deeply concerned that a company currently doing business with the Department of Defense – in this case building the Enhanced Medium Altitude Reconnaissance Surveillance System (EMARSS) and other sensitive military aircraft for other services – could soon be partially owned by a Chinese company with strong ties to the Beijing municipal government.” West said. “I look forward to hearing directly from counterintelligence experts on the safeguards necessary to ensure that classified technology is never transferred during sales to companies that could pose a risk to the National Security of the United States.”

West’s request for a Congressional hearing comes on the heels of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence concluding in a recent report that two Chinese firms pose a national security threat to the United States and should be blocked from doing business in the country.  See more information and West’s letter to Chairman McKeon here.

Rep. Allen West Op-Ed “The republic cannot survive so much dependency” WSJ Marketwatch

By Rep. Allen West

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Gov. Mitt Romney’s comments about the percentage of Americans who have grown economically dependent on the government for their sustenance, and as a result, see little benefit in changing course, is neither new nor outrageous.

More than 170 years ago, the French political thinker and writer, Alexis de Tocqueville saw this coming, and warned of its dangers in his most famous writing, Democracy in America. Here is an excerpt below:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.”

Our public treasury cannot sustain further “largesse.” Our national debt has ballooned to more than $16 trillion. The top 25 percent of wage earners contribute 87 percent of all tax revenue and it is numerically impossible to tax them sufficiently to pay for this expansion of federal government – let alone pay down our debt. For another viewpoint, read Rex Nutting’s column on the 47%.

Our entire fiscal and monetary policy is now based on one simple axiom: What we cannot tax, we borrow, and what we cannot borrow, we print.

The path we are on in 2012 is perilous and unsustainable. We must change course.

This November, Americans will not simply be choosing one man or another as president, they will be choosing the future direction of these United States of America.

The question is not whether one candidate is nicer or more likable or even easier to relate to. The fundamental question all Americans must ask themselves is what kind of a nation shall we be? And what does it mean to be an American?

Congressman Allen West’s Statement on the Anniversary of the Signing of the Constitution

(WASHINGTON) — Congressman Allen West (R-FL) released this statement on the 225th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution:

“Two and a quarter centuries ago, our Founding Fathers came together and signed the principled law by which all of America’s laws created thereafter would follow, the United States Constitution.  The Founders created this document to secure our fundamental rights and provide for an unprecedented degree of human freedom. The Constitution continues to protect our freedom so we can live the life we desire, without intrusion from the government or fear of retaliation for expressing the beliefs and values we hold close to us.

225 years later, the Constitution is the most important document ever created in the United States.  It also continues to be the most threatened.  Some believe the Constitution is archaic and should change with the times.  For 22 years, as an Army Officer,  I put my life on the line to defend our Constitution, and I am often offended at the lack of respect people have for our nation’s most important document.  This type of thinking is dangerous and underestimates the principles and ideas of our Founders who knew all too well the struggles of maintaining a free society.

The radical Islamist attacks this past week across the Middle East remind us how sacred freedom of speech and freedom of religion are, and that an enemy exists that will stop at nothing to take those freedoms away from us.  As a nation, these attacks and attacks like them only make us more determined to defend our liberty and freedoms.

On this Constitution Day, let us remember that none of our freedoms would be possible if it were not for the forward thinking of our Founding Fathers and the powerful document they left us.  The United States Constitution is the highest achievement of our political tradition and will forever define us as a people and a nation.  Let it always be revered and respected, as we will do whatever it takes to protect it.”

West Sequestration Bill Passes House of Representatives

(WASHINGTON) — Congressman Allen West (R-FL) released this statement tonight after his sponsored bill, the National Security and Jobs Protection Act, passed the House of Representatives Thursday with a 223- 196 vote.

“The National Security and Jobs Protection Act requires the President of the United States to submit an alternative plan to replace the sequester, and encourages the United States Senate to follow suit with its own alternative. Today, the House of Representatives worked together to pass this bill, proving we are prepared to work with the President on alternatives to achieve the same goal of replacing the sequester with cuts to lower priority spending programs, while protecting members of the armed services, our national security, important domestic programs and our fragile economy.

The President said last week that he wants the ‘strongest military the world has ever known.’  If the sequestration goes through and automatic across-the-board cuts take effect, national defense and essential domestic programs will be reduced as must as 10 percent. These cuts will undercut key responsibilities of the Federal Government and will take our military to the smallest size since World War II.

We don’t have much time left before the automatic cuts in sequestration take effect, and we need to work together to find a solution. The January 2nd deadline is quickly approaching.

The National Security and Jobs Protection Act will not only ensure we continue to have a strong Armed Forces, it will show the American people their elected leaders are fully capable of working together to solve the problems facing their nation. I strongly encourage my colleagues in the United States Senate to also pass this bill.”

Rep Allen West: Commentary Exclusive to the Palm Beach Post “Debating uninformed opponent would waste voters’ time”

Special to The Palm Beach Post

By Allen West

Given that the Palm Beach Post has refused to publish several of my recent opeds, I was somewhat surprised to be offered a chance to respond to their recent editorial echoing my primary opponent’s calls for a debate.

Instead of demanding a debate, my primary opponent would be better served by studying up on the issues and getting in touch with people he wants to represent.

For example, when asked about his position on the president’s healthcare law, my opponent, Robert Crowder, acknowledged in an interview with the Palm Beach Post that, “I’m not as conversant on that issue at this time as I probably should be.” Really, Mr. Crowder? This law fundamentally transforms our nation by exerting oppressive control over individuals and private enterprises, brings about a reduction in the quality and quantity of Medicare treatment and saddles Americans with 18-20 new taxes. It’s the most talked about public policy debacle in a generation! My opponent’s inability to articulate an opinion on this issue disqualifies him as a serious choice for voters in the August 14 primary.

My opponent also recently encouraged a largely Democrat audience to change party registration to vote in the Republican primary, only later to tell a Republican audience that those were not his words. We already have enough people in Washington, D.C. who can’t tell the truth. We don’t need more.

If voters are to gain anything from debates, both candidates must be willing and most importantly, capable of putting forth substantive proposals and honestly and truthfully answering questions. Unfortunately for voters, Bob Crowder has shown no ability to do either.

The real meaning of the 12 days of Christmas – Please Share

What’s really interesting at the end is the real meaning of the 12 days of Christmas – I didn’t know that…

Make sure you go all the way to the bottom of the e-mail, the picture and information about Arlington Cemetery in the winter, before Christmas is beautiful!
The Capitol Christmas tree in Washington , D.C. , is decorated with 3,000 ornaments that are the handiwork of U.S. schoolchildren. Encircling evergreens in the ‘Pathway of Peace’ represent the 50 U.S. states.
The world’s largest Christmas tree display rises up the slopes of Monte Ingino outside of Gubbio, in Italy ‘s Umbria region. Composed of about 500 lights connected by 40,000 feet of wire, the ‘tree’ is a modern marvel for an ancient city
A Christmas tree befitting Tokyo ‘s nighttime neon display is projected onto the exterior of the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka.
Illuminating the Gothic facades of Prague’s Old Town Square, and casting its glow over the manger display of the famous Christmas market, is a grand tree cut in the Sumava mountains in the southern Czech Republic.
Venice ‘s Murano Island renowned throughout the world for its quality glasswork is home to the tallest glass tree in the world. Sculpted by master glass blower Simone Cenedese, the artistic Christmas tree is a modern reflection of the holiday season.
Moscow celebrates Christmas according to the Russian Orthodox calendar on Jan. 7. For weeks beforehand, the city is alive with festivities in anticipation of Father Frost’s arrival on his magical troika with the Snow Maiden.  He and his helper deliver gifts under the New Year tree, or yolka, which is traditionally a fir.
The largest Christmas tree in Europe (more than 230 feet tall) can be found in the Parada do Comercio in Lisbon , Portugal .  Thousands of lights adorn the tree, adding to the special enchantment of the city during the holiday season.
‘Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree’: Even in its humblest attire, aglow beside a tiny chapel in Germany ‘s Karwendel mountains, a Christmas tree is a wondrous sight.
Ooh la la Galeries Lafayette! In Paris , even the Christmas trees are chic. With its monumental, baroque dome, plus 10 stories of lights and high fashion, it’s no surprise this show-stopping department store draws more visitors than the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower
In addition to the Vatican ‘s heavenly evergreen, St. Peter’s Square in Rome hosts a larger-than-life nativity scene in front of the obelisk.
The Christmas tree that greets revelers at the Puerta del Sol is dressed for a party. Madrid ‘s two-week celebration makes millionaires along with merrymakers. On Dec. 22, a lucky citizen will win El Gordo (the fat one), the world’s biggest lottery.
A token of gratitude for Britain ‘s aid during World War II, the Christmas tree in London ‘s Trafalgar Square has been the annual gift of the people of Norway since 1947.
Drink a glass of gluhwein from the holiday market at the Romer, Frankfurt ‘s city hall since 1405 and enjoy a taste of Christmas past.
Against a backdrop of tall, shadowy firs, a rainbow trio of Christmas trees lights up the night (location unknown).
There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me.  What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won’t come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.-
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit–Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit–Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles’ Creed.
So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol…so pass it on if you wish.’
Merry Christmas Everyone

Rest easy, sleep well my brothers.
Know the line has held, your job is done.
Rest easy, sleep well.
Others have taken up where you fell, the line has held.
Peace, peace, and farewell…
Readers may be interested to know that these wreaths — some 5,000 — are donated by the Worcester Wreath Co. of Harrington, Maine . The owner, Merrill Worcester, not only provides the wreaths, but covers the trucking expense as well. He’s done this since 1992. A wonderful guy. Also, most years, groups of Maine school kids combine an educational trip to DC with this event to help out. Making this even more remarkable is the fact that Harrington is in one of the poorest parts of the state.
