This weekend there was good and bad news for our warriors fighting against radical Islamism. Unfortunately four of our brave warriors gave the last full measure of devotion in Afghanistan. Our heartfelt condolences go out to those families who will have an empty chair at the dinner table. Our Special Operators conducted two tactical raid missions in Somalia and Libya. The operation in Libya resulted in capture of a Muslim terrorist with ties to the US Embassy attacks, al-Liby. However, he is being treated as a criminal and supposedly will be transferred to US to get lawyered up for a day in court. He should be heading to GITMO. Regardless of these successful raids, here’s another thing you can add to the list POTUS has shut down: a strategic policy in the Middle East to combat Islamic terrorism.
President Obama whispered under his breath in a hot mic moment to then Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to tell Vladimir Putin he would have more flexibility in a second term. We now clearly see what that flexibility means: increased aggression by enemies of our State who see a weak, indecisive President. The Islamic terrorist attack this weekend in Kenya reminds us of the last weak American President, Bill Clinton, who presided over an Islamic terrorist attack in Kenya against our embassy…and an emboldening of terrorists in Somalia. It was also Bill Clinton who turned his back on our brave Rangers and Delta Force Soldiers in Somalia by denying them armor and C-130 gunship support in Mogadishu. And America is entertaining Hillary Clinton as President after she took part in abandoning Americans to die in Benghazi? Santayana said, “those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Keep electing these weaklings, America, and more Americans will be attacked, and unfortunately lose their lives. The only way to deal with Islamists is to kill them, as the Al Shabab attackers stated, “there will be no negotiations.” I concur!
This so-called “Arab Spring” is less about a democratic movement, than it is about the early phase of the restoration of an Islamic Caliphate, the last being the Ottoman Empire.
We are witnessing secular Muslim leaders being deposed in very volatile and unstable nations. This growing Islamic Totalitarianism manifested in militant Islam has had a modus operand [sic] of capitalizing on unstable political situations (Iran, Afghanistan, Somalia).
Now we see these same types of instances occurring in Egypt, Libya, and Syria and the rose-colored glasses of some seek to portray this as a great awakening of liberty. History does not support this in the Middle East.
We must evaluate these occurrences through the prism of keen strategic and operational insight which looks out 10, 20, or 30 years.
If we had done so during the deposing of the Shah of Iran, we might have been able to prevent what arose. The Iran with which we must contend today is the major exporter of Islamic totalitarianism and state sponsored terrorism.
Congressman Allen West tweeted today 10/10/11 ” Ya think the “Arab Spring” is working? Ask the Coptic Christians who are fighting for survival in Egypt, Israeli’s already know the deal.”
