Angela West “Ain’t I a Woman?” Three conservative women that withstood a personally pejorative evisceration by the media”

truth1
Ain’t I a woman?

A found poem from Sojourner Truth’s most famous speech, adapted into poetic form by Erlene Stetson..

That man over there say
a woman needs to be helped into carriages
and lifted over ditches
and to have the best place everywhere.
Nobody ever helped me into carriages
or over mud puddles
or gives me a best place. . .

And ain’t I a woman?
Look at me
Look at my arm!
I have plowed and planted
and gathered into barns
and no man could head me. . .
And ain’t I a woman?
I could work as much
and eat as much as a man–
when I could get to it–
and bear the lash as well
and ain’t I a woman?
I have born 13 children
and seen most all sold into slavery
and when I cried out a mother’s grief
none but Jesus heard me. . .
and ain’t I a woman?
that little man in black there say
a woman can’t have as much rights as a man
cause Christ wasn’t a woman
Where did your Christ come from?
From God and a woman!
Man had nothing to do with him!
If the first woman God ever made
was strong enough to turn the world
upside down, all alone
together women ought to be able to turn it
rightside up again.

The War On Women

War on Women is a political term, used to describe Republican Party initiatives in federal and state legislatures that are seen as restricting women’s rights with regard to reproductive rights. Some sources have used the phrase to criticize conservative positions. Additional uses refer to legislative initiatives regarding the following: access to reproductive health services, particularly birth control and abortion services; how violence against women is prosecuted; how rape is defined for purposes of public funding of abortion for rape victims; how workplace discrimination against women is treated; and litigation concerning equal pay for women. The term is often used when targeting policies that reduce or eliminate taxpayer funding for women’s health organizations, like Planned Parenthood. Other areas of concern include public funding and mandatory employer insurance coverage of such matters as contraception and sterilization.

This strategy, the War on Women, was successful at least in the sense that it garnered the support of women by over 10 percentage points. The strategy even got some conservative support, most notably Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski who disputed the criticism from her fellow party members, challenging them to “go home and talk to your wife and your daughters” if they did not think there was a war on women, saying “It makes no sense to make this attack on women.”

The biggest mistake was the try to trivialize the issue, by likening it to “the war on caterpillars” or “left handed Irishmen”. Once again, big mistake. A few weeks ago I attended a dinner. One of the guests asked me “What do you do?”. I responded, he broke out into peals of laughter, pursing his lips as though he were humoring me. Very condescending, since I have been in my chosen profession for more than 15 years and probably make more than 3 times as much as he does as an attorney. Male to female condescension is not a winning strategy.

Instead, spend a few moments in thought and recall the three conservative women who had to withstand a personally pejorative evisceration by the media — Sarah Palin; Christine O’Donnell and Sharron Angle.

sarahpaln
Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin burst on the scene at the Republican national Convention to be announced as the Vice Presidential running mate for John McCain in 2008. I did not recognize her from , really, anywhere but I recall the camera following her husband through the stands and I asked my daughter Aubrey which show did he star in. To wit she replied that he was the vice presidential nominee’s husband. I decided to take notice at that time. Sarah Palin is a beautiful, smart (perhaps not in the polished way that bespeaks an Ivy League pedigree but bright nonetheless) and a traditionalist.

What should have been a celebration of this great feat ended up being one of the greatest stories of the lynching of a woman in modern history — unless we experience more Orwellian revisions. Conservative, liberal and in-between feasted upon her as though she were a piece of meat thrown into a pool of piranhas. No tactic was too low, too vulgar, too base.

Nary a word from the feminists when reporters wondered out loud if “she is neglecting her children”; the advocates for the handicapped never once questioned the cruelty of the attacks on her child Trig who was born with Down’s Syndrome; And the advocates for children yucked it up with a late night funny-man as he stated “One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game,”during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.” The funnyman said that he did not mean to make “funny” of her 14 year old daughter — he was referring to her 17 year old daughter. Oh, I guess that was OK…. That night, the rape of a 14 or 17 year old girl was just alright—– a good funny and not to mention —- real cool.

The final part of the deconstruction of Sarah came with the decision to brand her as “stupid”. Saturday Night Live was relentless in their pursuit with the continual lampooning and Tina Fey turned her marginal comedic talents into a career boon with the farsical renditions of Palin . Then there was Andrew Sullivan, whose hate infested blogs regarding the Palins became a regular on the internet. He was obsessed, the Palins gave him a tick he could not lick.

Finally, the “right” women finished her off. Websites against Palin authored by women, and many women who felt superior pretty much finished her off. Two women in New York felt so strongly that Palin was the wrong choice they created a blog called “Women Against Sarah Palin” and are using the site to post emails from women who write in from all over the country about why they think Palin is the wrong choice for Vice President and the wrong choice for American women. Within a week they received 80,000 responses. At least 3 a minute. Women never need a man to hold them back, they will do it themselves.

What is interesting to me is that I watch the left who have members lying, cheating, saying outlandish things, and so forth — they stick together. We, on the right are waiting for Jesus Christ or Mary anything less goes under the bus.

odonnell

Christine O’Donnell

“Christine Therese O’Donnell is an American Tea Party politician, former Republican Party candidate, and long-time conservative activist best known for her stances against abortion, homosexuality, pre-marital sex, and masturbation. She is also known for being an outspoken proponent of fiscal responsibility and, accordingly, a critic of reckless government spending and huge federal deficits. With strong financial support from the Tea Party movement, she defeated nine-term U.S. Representative and former governor Michael Castle in Delaware’s September 2010 Republican primary for the U.S. Senate. In doing so, O’Donnell caused an uproar among the political establishment. She lost the November 2010 U.S. Senate election in Delaware, to Democrat Chris Coons by a margin of 57% to 40%”

I put this excerpt in quotations because I got it from the Wikipedia. She became branded with the word “dumb”, one article called her “sexually repressed”, “crazy”, and “spooky”. And finally,
sharron_angle_3

Sharron Angle

“Sharron Elaine Angle is an American politician who served as a Republican member of the Nevada Assembly from 1999 to 2007. She ran unsuccessfully as the 2010 Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate seat in Nevada, garnering 45 percent of the vote. “

One of the controversies that surrounded her was her assertion that the constitution does not mandate the “separation of church and state”. Well, that is true, the phrase “separation of church and state” does not actually appear anywhere in the Constitution.

“The exact term is an offshoot of the phrase, “wall of separation between church and state”, as written in Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. In that letter, referencing the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, Jefferson writes: “Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should ‘make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,’ thus building a wall of separation between Church and State.” Jefferson reflected his frequent speaking theme that the government is not to interfere with religion.”

So….. was she right? I think so… But it did not stop there, after showing her support for the 2nd Amendment and maybe suggesting something further, Congressman Jim Clyburn said in January 2011 that “Sharron Angle’s endorsement of ‘Second Amendment remedies’ in her losing Nevada campaign against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid contributed to the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.”

Angle was branded the “idiot” from “crazytown”. What is the end result of women, especially conservative women speaking out, running for office, or stepping out of their comfort zone —– unless you remain a part of the “establishment”, watch out — there will be swords on the left and clubs on from the establishment on the right. Believe it…

So….. Ain’t these women? And did they not go through a real beat down war? Chilling thought.

The Myth of Liberal Tolerance: Will This Make the Nightly News? I Doubt It

The Myth of Liberal Tolerance

If there’s one thing liberals pride themselves on it’s the myth that they’re “tolerant” of others. But what liberals mean by the word is not what the word means, nor is it what they practice.

The word “tolerate” means to put up with, to allow to exist. But liberals don’t mean it that way. They don’t preach tolerance, they preach conformity. Look up what these bastions of tolerance have said about the Tea Party. Look what they say about Allen West. Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Clarence Thomas or anyone who dare creep outside the left-wing’s assigned box for them.

See, many liberals are, in reality, are the most intolerant human beings you’ll ever come across. They preach a “live and let live” philosophy, but relentlessly attack anyone with whom they disagree.

They can also be the most bigoted people you’ll ever meet. By bigoted I mean racist.

The most famous examples of this have been directed at Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. In 1994, political commentator Julianne Malveaux said on PBS that she wished Justice Thomas’ wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early like many black men do, of heart disease,” continuing, “Well, that’s how I feel. He is an absolutely reprehensible person.” And in 1996, Emerge magazine ran a cover drawing of Justice Thomas dressed as a lawn jockey with the headline “Uncle Thomas: Lawn Jockey for The Far Right.

What was the unforgivable sin Justice Thomas committed to warrant such a disgusting attacks? He thought differently than the accepted liberal orthodoxy. That orthodoxy is where the true bigotry lies in liberalism.

At its worst, liberalism sees skin color, gender or sexual orientation and assigns a belief system, their belief system, on those people.

Help ensure we keep Rep Allen West in Washington to restore honor and integrity to government

Dear Friend,

Bill Maher and liberals like him are gravely threatened by a black conservative willing to stand up to their reckless agenda.

This week, Obama’s million-dollar Super PAC donor and “comedian” Bill Maher leveled racial smears against Allen West and the “Party of the Apes.”

Maher went on to say that when fellow Republican representatives greet Allen in Washington, they probably say, “‘Word, Allen. Word.’ Because that’s how they think black people talk.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time Bill Maher has made racist and sexist remarks. He has a history of offensive, misogynistic attacks on women as well.

  • In one 11-day period in 2011, Maher repeatedly assaulted Sarah Palin, calling her a “bimbo” and hurling two sexist epithets during his stand-up “comedy routine.”
  • He has repeatedly leveled insults at Bristol Palin as well, saying just this past May that Bristol would “name her next kid Colt 45 after what she’s drinking when she gets pregnant.”
  • And in April, Maher attacked Ann Romney saying she has “never gotten her ass out of the house to work

President Obama and Allen’s left-wing opponent won’t speak out against these racist and sexist attacks. In fact, they’ll likely circle the wagons. Help us fight back by donating today! Help ensure we keep Allen West in Washington to restore honor and integrity to government.

Sarah Palin: Allen West Should Be Considered For Vice Presidency In 2012

Sarah Palin said Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) should be considered for the vice presidency in 2012.

After being asked if she’d consider the VP position during an interview with Fox News, Palin stumped for West, counting his military experience as valuable.

“You know who I’d like to see considered for the VP slot is Colonel Allen West,” Palin said. “In this very tumultuous time across our world, someone who has served in our military or at least has intimate knowledge of the way the military works and should work, perhaps by having a close family member serve, someone like that.”

“Colonel Allen West, who’s been to the school of hard knocks, he should be the one who should be considered seriously for VP,” Palin said.

Palin refused to say whether she would consider a second vice presidential run.

“It’s not a no,” Palin said. “What I’m saying is, if I were in a GOP presidential candidate’s shoes, I would first look to Colonel Allen West.”

Palin also brushed off the suggestion that she may be asked to step up for a presidential run in the case of a brokered convention.

“I’m not going to be asked,” Palin said. “If it results in a brokered convention, that is nothing to fear.”

Palin also discussed the current state of the GOP race, predicting that Newt Gingrich would win his home state of Georgia on Super Tuesday and calling claims that Rick Santorum’s appeals to Democrats were “dirty” campaign tactics “ridiculous.”

Tuesday Members to hold presser for Holder’s resignation, ‘demanding answers and accountability’

By Matthew Boyle – The Daily Caller

Several members of Congress will band together next Tuesday at 1:15 to demand “answers and accountability” on Operation Fast and Furious from Attorney General Eric Holder, The Daily Caller has learned.

The press conference will focus on those who’ve called for Holder’s immediate resignation – and why they’re doing it – in addition to calling the embattled Attorney General out for the information he’s continued to withhold from Congress.

Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar, who was one of the first to call for Holder’s immediate resignation, is organizing the presser. “The goal is to heighten the awareness, and publicly ask en masse that the Attorney General step aside or be fired,” Gosar told TheDC. (SPECIAL SECTION: Full coverage of Fast and Furious)

Gosar’s office said those who haven’t yet called for Holder’s resignation are also welcome to attend to demand Fast and Furious answers and accountability.

Why I continue my steadfast and loyal stand with Congressman Allen West

by Tanya D. Grimsley

I have never blogged a day in my life. I have written many comments on Facebook, Twitter, Google and many other social networks. I have never felt like I could truly articulate anything that I had to say and make it something worth reading. Bare with me friends, this is a new road for me to travel down and I speak and feel with high emotion about very few things. They are, God, Family, Country, Our Military and Congressman Allen West of Florida’s Congressional District 22.

I found a voice one day inside myself not wanting to be silent anymore. I had approximately 49 Facebook friends and a desire to learn more. You see, after listening to Glenn Beck say it so many times “Do the research” and Sarah Palin standing up for us little folks I realized I have this voice, this passion, this desire to want to do more for my family, my country, my fellow American’s. But how? I was so afraid to accept friendship requests or branch out and try anything new but I had to start somewhere. I would post an occasional news article and then sit and wait for someone to get upset about what I posted. I sometimes went as far as to immediately delete the post out of worry.

Then I met a wonderful friend by the name of Mark Bonner on Facebook. Mark’s love for this country, his passion, desires and messages are crystal clear to all who know him. I began to feed off of everything he did. The style, the presentations, the class act that he personifies in everything he does. I was hooked, I wanted to be just like him. I wanted to know all of his friends and to be friends with them. Mark’s following of grassroots, God fearing patriots lead me to some of the most incredible friendships a girl could ever ask for. Mark and I have a mutual friend John Swetland, that  ignited us daily to get our friends motivated by passing along fantastic articles and information on a little known (then) potential congressional candidate out of Florida, Congressman Allen B. West, retired US Army LTC. Then came the video that would rock my little conservative heart to the core.

It is 5 minutes and 59 seconds worth of truths.

Please understand, I never wanted to engage in political discussions with anyone. I didn’t feel strong enough to say the things I wanted to say. So little by little I would get more information on Allen West and between Mark Bonner, John Swetland and a few other Facebook friends we started to put his message out on the world wide web. People were astounded, amazed, proud, thankful and most of all they were willing to take the extra step and share with their friends.

This is how a (Ret) (LTC) can get elected to US Congress. Social Networking, solid grassroots patriots willing to take a step forward, stand up, share the message. You don’t need to cower because of friends you may offend, or you may not want to have “that political discussion” with. You, as an American, must be true to you. What matters to you? How much does it really mean? Will you stand down and only share and promote certain things to certain people? Will you shout it from the highest mountain top that you mean what you say and it’s okay to lose a few friends in the process because you gained respect from the ones that agreed.

I have a desire to get up every day because of my 21 and 6 year old sons. I can maintain my daily life, no matter what road I am going down because of my Lord and Savior. I don’t live in a nice house or a good neighborhood. I don’t have a two family income, health insurance or all the things that most of you have as a reason to fight for the “right” side. I should be fighting the fight for the other side. I choose not too because I know the difference in right and wrong. Rep Allen West states clearly “promote the general welfare, not provide welfare.”

I have finally found my drive, you know, the one that gets your motor running. The motivation that helps take the car out of neutral. Congressman Allen West, Florida CD22. My days are spent spreading his brand of conservatism, his schedules, his messages to those American Patriots who desire to want this great nation back to it’s original foundations. Congressman Allen West personifies true grassroots Statesmanship.

Thank you for taking the time to read my very first blurb/blog. I hope and pray that you will “do the research” find your voices, get to the root of what gets your car into “drive” and make things happen across this nation. I believe we all have it inside of us, we just have to start the engine.

Former Obama Czar Calls Tea Party ‘the Worst,’ Steals the Party’s Playbook

by The Christian Post

A former White House aide told liberal activists the Tea Party’s agenda is “the worst” but said their accomplishments are worth copying. Tea Party members, meanwhile, say the left will never be able to copy the group’s success as long their ideology embraces redistribution of wealth.

Van Jones, President Barack Obama‘s green jobs adviser, noted at the “Take Back the American Dream” conference Monday that the Tea Party has built a network that achieves results without a formal leadership model or even headquarters.

“They use their charismatic leaders to build something bigger than any leader,” Jones told the crowd. “They talk rugged individualism, but they act collectively.”

By contrast, he said, liberals talk collectively but act as individuals. Jones chided progressives for being too reliant on Obama and urged them to galvanize and take to the streets in the name of the middle class. Tea Party Nation President Judson Phillips said the terms “the worst” and “silly” could also be used to describe Jones and his ideology. Jones resigned from the Obama administration after controversy arose over his crude remarks to Republicans and his political affiliations.

Jones affiliated himself with conspiracy group 9/11Truth.com by supporting its petition suggesting that President George W. Bush deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen. Jones was also affiliated with the group Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement. Glenn Beck uncovered the group as having Marxist roots. STORM’s handbook, which Beck also revealed, stated the group began a rectification process that would rebuild “political and personal unity” and make a “definite collective shift towards communist politics.”
