– Saturday, October 1st, it was truly a Lauderdale-By-The-Sea morning and certainly enjoyable. We began the day with a shore dive out to their first reef system to view the “bio-rock” solar project. We then proceeded to do a reef cleanup just below the Commercial Blvd fishing pier, lots of fishing line to untangle off our pristine reef system. Then we came on shore and participated in the monthly beach cleanup- too many cigarette butts! See pictures here. Lastly, I went over to make chocolate military service seal medallions for our Wounded Warriors with Scout Troop 512 at Jan’s Chocolates in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea… certainly a place to visit if you have a sweet tooth. See article below.

– Sunday, October 2nd, as stated above… ran in my third straight Dunn’s Run 5-mile race. There were eighteen runners in my age group and I was fortunate enough to finish middle of the pack. Hat tip to Mr. Dunn, Reagan Wireless and all of the other sponsors as we must support the Boys and Girls Clubs who offer a positive influence to our young people!

Congressman West Joins Scouts to Make Chocolates for Wounded Warriors

(LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA) —-  Congressman Allen West joined a group of Boy Scouts from Pack 512 and their Daisy counterparts Saturday, October 1st at Jan’s Homemade Candies in Lauderdale-By-The- Sea, to make chocolates bearing the insignias of the Armed Forces. The chocolates will be sent to recovering soldiers at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center along with hand-made get well cards.

Congressman West donned apron and gloves to carefully pour melted chocolate into the special Armed Forces molds. The chocolate medallions were then chilled and individually wrapped before being sent to the hospital at Bethesda where they will be distributed.

“We wish our wounded warriors a speedy recovery,” Congressman West said. “Each and every one of us owes an immense debt of gratitude for their service, and these small expressions of caring mean so much for those who have given so much.”

VIDEO – Congressman Allen West, As Sweet as Chocolate

by Javier Manjarres

It’s not often that you’re going to catch your congressman on the beach cleaning up after beachgoers on a weekend, but for Congressman Allen West, it’s just another day at his other “office”. West, an avid beach goer and certified master diver, took to the beach on Saturday with about three dozen supporters and cleaned trash off the sand. West also took a stab at cleaning up an ocean reef that was entangled with fishing line, hooks and other waste.

There was an obvious police presence partly due to a rumor that DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz had enlisted a squadron of liberal attack seagulls to lay siege on West and ‘rain down’ liberal Democrat talking points on Congressman West. Fortunately for West and the other grateful beach goers, the squadron of  birdies was Missing in Action.

After Congressman West made a quick wardrobe change-a-r00, West made his way over to Jan’s Homemade Candies in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, where he met up with a local troop of  Boy Scout to make chocolate that will be sent overseas to U.S. Military personnel.  West said that he was there to support a local business but mostly to lend support to the American troops stationed abroad. When asked about his steady and at pouring chocolate, West replied, “I don’t waste chocolate, I don’t like to waste taxpayer dollars either.”
