I recently visited the Five Star Veterans Center in Jacksonville, Florida on behalf of the Allen West Foundation where we had a nice gathering of Americans and the theme of “The American Dream.”

As I drove home after the event heading to South Florida, ‘round about Cocoa Beach I gazed over in amazement at a disturbing electronic billboard sign. I thought perhaps my eyes were just tired. However, as we got further down the road near Vero Beach, I saw the sign again: “Find Jesus in the Quran” with some quranic verse number and the website,

Hours before, I had spoken about the American dream and Jefferson’s immortal words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.” Those words embody the American Dream: that our individual rights emanate from God, our Creator, not from man or government. It is that deep Judeo-Christian faith that enabled 56 men to embark upon the quest of creating a nation where the individual reigned preeminent.

So how was it that I gazed upon two electronic billboards promoting an ideology that translates into the word, “surrender?”

The story of Erin Cox, the Boston high school student suspended for being called in as a designated driver is unconscionable. Sadly, it is indicative of the statist drive permeating our culture to negate individual initiative, personal responsibility, accountability, and acts of honor. When my daughter Aubrey tells me about times when she looks out for her sorority sisters, it makes me proud. Proud to know she is reflecting the Judeo-Christian values upon which she was raised. To the parents of this young lady, and to Erin as well, I commend you. Know that you embody two military creeds: never leave a fallen comrade behind and Semper Fidelis.

I had a meeting in downtown DC and am standing at the McPherson Square METRO and an advertisement caught my eye saying, “Millions of Americans are living happily without religion.” The ad is sponsored by the Center for Inquiry at America has a Judeo-Christian faith heritage and promotes the free exercise of religion. However, it has been my experience in life that people who possess no deep faith are not happy. After all, as it says in Joshua chapter 24, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Yeah, we do need a Values Voters Summit and probably another Great Awakening in America.

Anthony Falzarano had a bit of an exchange Tuesday morning with some protesters standing outside The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea, where U.S. Rep. Allen West was scheduled to speak.

West, a Republican who represents congressional District 22, hosted a 1½ hour Town Hall meeting that drew about 200 people.

The nearly 20 protesters outside held signs and distributed fliers to passersby. But Falzarano didn’t like a comment he heard from someone in the group who said West is against jobs.

After getting past the crowd, Falzarano, of West Palm Beach, shouted back that it was President Barack Obama who’s responsible for the lack of jobs in this country.

“It’s Obama, Obama!” he yelled back at them.

Palm Beach Police Officer Michele Pagan asked Falzarano to be respectful of the protesters and not to bait them into an argument.

Falzarano listened and complied.

Once inside, Falzarano said, “Congressman Allen West is holding President Obama accountable for not getting jobs. Why is the president moving for jobs now, a year before his re-election campaign. Why didn’t he work on jobs three years ago when the Democrats controlled the Senate and controlled the House of Representatives, when he could have easily passed a jobs bill. He’s moving for a jobs bill because he knows he’s in great jeopardy of not being re-elected. Republicans are often accused of being racist, that we don’t want a black president in the White House. We don’t mind any president’s color as long as he stands for American, Judeo-Christian values.”
