@AllenWest “Steadfast and Loyal, Sen. Ted Cruz, I got your back”

OBK AW 2013

by Allen West via Facebook

A hearty congratulations to Texas Senator Ted Cruz for being a man of principle who is fulfilling his oath to the people of Texas and the American people. In the face of incessant criticism and betrayal from his own party — something I know about –he has persevered and stood up for this Constitutional Republic. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) also known as Obamacare is an abomination, an onerous piece of legislation passed in the middle of the night, strictly partisan, and as a Democrat leader articulated, “we must pass the bill in order to find out what is in it.” The American people, and labor unions, now know what is in it. And don’t ignore the unconstitutional delays enacted by President Obama. I want you all to ponder the waivers and exemptions granted, a sure evidence of cronyism, not to mention the unnecessary cuts to MEDICARE for seniors. And even as Lois Lerner retires, Obamacare will hire 16 THOUSAND new IRS agents. Steadfast and Loyal Senator Cruz, I got your back.

Allen West “This left me speechless”

westpac-logo

Friends, this left me speechless.

This week White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked which of the scandals currently plaguing the White House President Obama thought was “phony.” Shockingly…he had a very specific answer. Benghazi and the IRS.

Carney answered, “Whether it’s about the attacks in Benghazi and the talking points, or revelations about conduct at the IRS — that attempts to turn this into a scandal have failed.”

I’m enraged that our Commander-in-Chief feels that the American people’s concern over what happened in Benghazi is “phony.” And further, President Obama should outraged by the warrantless targeting of conservative groups by the IRS. No one has attempted to make these events into scandals…those inside his administration who perpetrated these crimes did all the work.

Patriots, don’t settle for less. Demand leaders with integrity, strong work ethic, and conservative principles.

Consider this…the White House didn’t just call the Benghazi and the IRS scandals “phony,” they also called them “not of the highest priority.”

In their own words in the very same press conference: “While important, are not of the highest priority to the American people.”

I can’t think of two topics more worthy of the attention of the American people.

As former military commander, I knew I had to have my priorities straight or the people it was my job to protect were going to die. If our President doesn’t believe what happened in Benghazi or the gross violation of our Constitution by IRS are not a priorities of the American people….he shouldn’t be our President!

I created the Allen West Guardian Fund for one purpose: to ensure we have leaders Washington who will stand as guardians of our Constitutional republic and change the face of American leadership. I’m not ready to settle for second-rate leaders who have priorities that are seriously out-touch with the American people.

Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Steadfast and Loyal,

Allen West
Lt. Col. Allen B. West, USA (ret)
U.S. Congressman (2011-2013)

PS: Benghazi and the IRS — I can’t think of two topics more worthy of the attention of the American people. Please, help me realign the priorities of leaders in Washington by making an immediate contribution right now.

Allen West “Why isn’t Obama held responsible for all the scandals and questionable actions coming from his Executive Branch”

“Recently, the entire uniformed leadership of the US Military was brought before the Senate Armed Services Committee on the subject of sexual assaults. They are being held responsible. So why isn’t Obama held responsible for all the scandals and questionable actions coming from his Executive Branch:I Benghazi, Boston terror attack, IRS, Fast and Furious, HHS solicitation of private funds, State Department misbehavior, Obamacare health exchange navigators, NSA surveillance, Attorney General Holder’s actions against AP, James Rosen, and Sharryl Atkisson. This is all very indicting and shows a failure in the “command climate.” If I were Speaker of the House, I would make a demand on behalf of the American people, and clearly articulate that “President Obama refuses to answer or take responsibility for various questionable actions within his administration. Therefore, as Speaker, I am issuing a subpoena for the President to appear under oath before the Government Oversight and Investigations Committee in order to respond to the disturbing actions of the Executive Branch, which he oversees and for whom he is accountable.” And if I were President, I would appear for as long as it takes to resolve these issues, unless there’s something to hide, which all indications lead one to believe. Instead of cherry-picked interviews and scripted speeches, why not put all this to rest?”

Allen West “Sharing some more items of hypocrisy when it comes to your government”

Now and then I like to share with you some items of hypocrisy when it comes to our government. I just received another notice from the US House of Representatives Committee on Ethics relating to the Ethics in Government Act. Yes, I know what you’re thinking. It seems they want me to file another financial disclosure statement since I departed the Congress, and they threatened me with a $200 fine. Now would it just be simple to ask, are there any changes from your last statement? However, consider this, did anyone ask the IRS to submit a financial disclosure statement after 225 conferences over the past two years at the cost of $50 million to the American taxpayer? Did anyone ask Secretary of State John Kerry to file a financial disclosure statement after giving the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood government American taxpayer dollars — after Congress had stated no? So actually, why should I file a financial disclosure statement since the DOJ, IRS, and NSA can just secretly get all my financial, phone, email records anyway. Welcome to the hypocrisy of our Federal Government. This is similar to Satan asking Reverend Billy Graham to disclose his church attendance records. And yes, I will be calling my former colleague Rep. Michael Conaway, Chairman of the Committee on Ethics.

Allen, Angela and the West Family joined Fox and Friends Sunday 5/12/13 – Video

5/12/13 – Former Congressman Allen West on Sunday (R-FL) said that an admission by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that it had improperly scrutinized tea party groups was part of a wider conspiracy that included President Barack Obama’s administration forcing Republican-owned car dealerships to be shut down during the auto bailout in 2009.

Fox News host Alisyn Camerota asked West if he had any indications that the recently-revealed IRS practice of examining whether tea party groups were abusing their tax-exempt status was not limited to “rogue, low-level IRS agents in the Cincinnati office who thought that they were going to personally stick it to the tea party.”

“Well, of course,” the tea party-favorite Republican declared. “The most important thing we need to come to understand is your First Amendment rights is you have the right to petition the government for redress of your grievances. If we start to have a government that is targeting certain groups for their political ideology because they don’t believe it is in concert with their beliefs, this is Orwellian, to put it in the least manner.” “We’ve got to come back and have hearings on this,” he continued. “This is something that is criminal.”

Camerota wondered if West knew why the IRS had been asking tea party groups for their donor lists.

“One of the things you have to understand with those donor lists — and this is something that was brought up before the Small Business and also the Oversight Committee when I was there in Congress — they are after those lists because they want to put a lot of pressure on individuals,” West explained. “And there are a lot of folks out there concerned about coming out and being forthcoming about their support to political candidates and what have you.”

“There were a lot of automobile dealerships that were closed down because people found out who they were providing funds and support to, when you go back and look at that auto bailout.”

As part of Chrysler’s bailout deal with the U.S. government in 2008, the company agreed to close about a quarter of its 3,200 dealerships. By 2009, conservative media outlets like The Washington Examiner and Fox News were suggesting that the Obama administration had been disproportionately targeting Republican-owned dealers.

But FactCheck.org looked into the claims in September of 2009 and found that the “best evidence shows that dealerships with Republican donors weren’t disproportionately targeted — auto dealers overall tend to lean overwhelmingly Republican.” And even a Fox News study determined that “the data do not support the charges.”

“Nobody has bothered to look up data for the control group: the list of dealerships which aren’t being closed,” FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver wrote in 2009. “It turns out that all car dealers are, in fact, overwhelmingly more likely to donate to Republicans than to Democrats — not just those who are having their doors closed.”

“Overall, 88 percent of the contributions from car dealers went to Republican candidates and just 12 percent to Democratic candidates,” Silver pointed out. “There’s no conspiracy here, folks — just some bad math.”

Stand With Allen West – Support a Flat Tax

The current income tax system attacks success, imposes enormous compliance costs on taxpayers, rewards special interests, and makes America less competitive. A flat tax would go a long way towards correcting these problems. More importantly, it would get the government out of the way of our economy and job creators.

We support moving towards a flat tax system with a single low tax rate, which would reduce penalties against productive behavior, such as work, risk taking, and entrepreneurship. A flat tax will eliminate many special interest exemptions and loopholes. Such a system will also solve the problems of complexity, allowing taxpayers to file their tax returns on a simple form. A flat tax system will also eliminate the tax code’s assault on capital formation by ending the double taxation of savings and investment income. By taxing income only one time, a flat tax is easier to enforce and more conducive to job creation and capital formation.

I stand with Congressman Allen West in support of a flat tax.

Rep Allen West meets with IRS; discusses Taxpayer Identity Fraud in South Florida

(WASHINGTON)–  Congressman Allen West (R-FL) met with representatives from the Internal Revenue Service this week to discuss solutions to the growing number of taxpayer identity fraud cases in South Florida. Federal Trade Commission reports show tax-related identity fraud continues to plague the United States, most notably South Florida, where more than half of the 20,000 Florida identity fraud cases to the IRS have been detected.

“It has become too easy and far too common for criminals to obtain the taxpayer identification numbers of people and file fraudulently in their name,” West said.   “Today’s meeting with the IRS allowed me to hear directly from the agency as to what investigators are doing to prevent this crime.  I challenge the IRS to determine a more efficient system for tracking who these criminals are and how they are obtaining taxpayer identification numbers.”

IRS leaders discussed with Congressman West several new systems implemented this year to identify and track fraud, including a “detection code” assigned to suspicious filings.

“I can assure you, we are getting better everyday,” Jodi Patterson, Director of Return Integrity with the IRS, told Congressman West.  “This is a top priority for the IRS.”

Patterson also assured Congressman West the IRS is improving its system for how operators handle taxpayers who believe their identity has been stolen.

“We have spent a great deal of time training our operators on how to interact and best help expedite the reporting process, ” Patterson said.

West asked the IRS to report back to him at the end of April on improvements the IRS has made over last year, including a report of indicators and warnings the IRS has discovered through its investigation. West also encouraged the IRS to work with local law enforcement to better track down criminals on a local level.

“Our local law enforcement is well aware of this problem and they want to be involved,” West said.  “I am confident the IRS is listening to our concerns and will continue tracking down these criminals until this problem is solved.”
