Rep Allen West “The Presidents actions and words more so resemble the flailing of a drowning person”

by Congressman Allen West on Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Via Facebook Status: “President Obama’s recent rhetorical rants over the past two days are not indicative of a confident incumbent President. His actions and words more so resemble the flailing of a drowning person caught in a rip current at night with no one around for a rescue. The fella doth protest too much in desperation. Another Good Read”

Wall Street Journal Editorial“Paul Ryan’s Hunger Games” The President offers his vision for an uplifting second term.

If there’s a Laffer Curve for Presidential invective—some point at which dishonest political abuse yields diminishing returns—the White House political team must not think their boss has hit it. Even in this hyperpartisan age, President Obama’s speech to the Associated Press yesterday was a parody of the form. This was a diatribe that managed to invoke “Social Darwinism” and “a Trojan Horse” in the same paragraph, amid the other high crimes that Mr. Obama says Paul Ryan wants to commit.

The President’s depiction of the wonkish and formerly obscure House Budget Chairman as some political monster is itself telling. Mr. Obama is conceding that he can’t run on the economic recovery, the stimulus, health care, green energy or any of the other grand liberal ambitions that have dominated his time in office. All of those are unpopular or failures. He was elected on hope and change, but now his only hope is to change the subject to the ogres he claims are the disloyal opposition.

Did you hear about the GOP’s red-in-tooth-and-claw plan for Medicare? Grandma and Gramps are going to be drafted for the Hunger Games.

Mr. Obama has been working Mediscare for the last year, but he is also debuting some new material, each layer thicker than the last. Modern Republicans are so radical that they oppose research and care for Alzheimer’s, cancer, AIDS, autism and Down Syndrome, even as they want to deny education and food to children and their mothers. They want to pave over Yellowstone and backfill the Grand Canyon. But few tourists could get there anyway, because Republicans plan to shut down air traffic control too.

Because Republicans have criticized the Administration’s torrent of costly new rules across the entire economy, therefore they favor returning to a state of regulatory nature, with no rules at all. Because Republicans oppose high-speed rail, therefore they would have opposed industrialization in the 19th century. They do plan to build a wayback machine to the Gilded Age, however, by handing a $150,000 check to every American millionaire, a million-dollar check to every billionaire, and a billion-dollar check to every trillionaire.

“This is not conjecture,” Mr. Obama said. “I am not exaggerating. These are facts.” Lest you think we exaggerate, read the transcript.

Rep Allen West Visits Local High Schools to Discuss Teenage Girls and Binge Drinking

JUPITER, FL– Congressman Allen West (R-FL) along with his wife, Dr. Angela Graham-West, and The Century Council, a non-profit dedicated to combating binge drinking among teenage girls, visited local high schools today to encourage students to start chapters of Girl Talk: Choices and Consequences of Underage Drinking. Girl Talk is a student-to-student mentoring program that pairs middle school girls with high school girls who serve as mentors. The program promotes leadership skills and positive decision-making, saying “no” to underage drinking, making positive life choices and building self-esteem.

“I am the father of two teenage daughters, and my wife and I have personally seen the pressures they face growing up,” West said. “As parents, we know we can only do and say so much, and that their friends also have an influence. I encourage students to start a chapter of Girl Talk and stand as a united front when dealing with the pressures in school.”

Congressman West and his wife, Dr. Angela Graham-West, visited both Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter High School in Jupiter to talk with students and teachers about the Girl Talk program. Graham-West, who volunteers in her personal time as an adult mentor to teenagers, spoke personally of what she has encountered during her time as a mentor.

“Underage drinking is the root of so many problems,” Graham-West told students. “Girls who drink are most likely to have premarital sex, get pregnant, or even die as a result of a car accident or alcohol poisoning. ”

Graham-West told schools she specifically supports the Girl Talk program because she believes it’s a great way to form bonds, friendships and encourage older girls to help the younger girls along the road during the difficult teen years.

“I love the idea of having the older girls in school mentor the younger girls,” Dr. Graham-West continued. ” Too often, girls are pitted against each other in competition. We girls need to stick together!”

Statistics show 26 percent of Florida high school students admitted to binge drinking in the past year.
Children who begin drinking by age 13 have a 38 percent higher risk of developing alcohol dependence later in life, according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

The Century Council, a national not-for-profit organization with a mission to eliminate drunk driving and underage drinking among teens, created the Girl Talk: Choices and Consequences of Underage Drinking lesson to improve dialogue between mothers and daughters and their peers. Girl Talk has helped initiate and sustain conversations about alcohol in other communities around the country and hopes to do the same in Palm Beach County.

“Girls need to be informed of the toll that underage drinking can take on their health and also on other aspects of their lives,” said Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of The Century Council. “We want all teenagers to know that underage drinking has many negative consequences and we hope these kinds of programs will encourage them to discuss this with their parents.”

Allen West “Representing the people of CD 22nd has been among the highest honors of my life”

Dear Fellow Patriots,

I write to you today with mixed emotions.  As you have probably heard by now, on Tuesday, I announced my decision to seek reelection in the new proposed 18th Congressional District.

It was not an easy decision, and one I reached only after much reflection, prayer and consultation with family, friends and supporters like you.

Representing the people of the 22nd Congressional District has been among the highest honors of my life.  I am honored by the trust that voters have placed in me this past year.  I am truly humbled by the generosity and support of thousands of Floridians, and Americans, who have knocked doors, made phone calls, and donated their hard-earned dollars to our campaigns over the past four years.

After a career serving my fellow citizens and defending our Constitution, and our God-given rights, from foreign aggression, I returned home and was confronted by the grave extent to which economic liberty and opportunity, gifts that have traditionally been the birthright of every American, were under attack.

From 2008 to 2010, the forces of bigger government, higher taxes, and unsustainable spending were on the march.   In just two short years, the results of this failed ideology–crippling debt, record unemployment, and a foreclosure crisis–had become evident in South Florida.

These ills only strengthened my resolve to make a difference and you stood with me just as you did in 2008. Your dedication in 2010 sent me to Capitol Hill to begin turning things around.

Every week, I go to our Nation’s Capital to be your representative in the People’s House – the United States House of Representatives.  I go to Capitol Hill to be your voice.  I go as a servant to all South Floridians. I am working to protect your life, your liberty and your pursuit of happiness—a pursuit that is solely up to you as a free individual.

I have never wavered from our vision; to work to create jobs, restrain Federal Government spending, reduce America’s ever increasing national debt, and provide for a strong national defense to ensure a safer and more prosperous future for our children and grandchildren.

On Election night 2010, I promised: “I am going to fix the problems in Washington, D.C. and then I am coming home.”   Unfortunately, a cynical, politicized redistricting process wrought with cronyisms and nefarious in intent, sought to ensure I would not be able to keep that promise.

While I will miss the opportunity to represent all of the people of Florida’s 22nd Congressional District, in the interest of keeping my promise and fixing the problems in our Nation’s Capital, I have decided the best course of action is to run in Florida’s new 18th Congressional District, which covers northern Palm Beach County and all of Martin and St. Lucie Counties.

Regardless of the district lines, I will never forget your help and support. I will never forget all the great Americans I have met on the campaign trail and as your Congressman.  This experience has only strengthened my conviction in the goodness of Floridians and the greatness of America.  As long as the people of South Florida allow me to serve, I will be South Florida’s Congressman and I will be your Congressional Representative.

You will always be able to turn to me for help, and your voice will continue to be my voice.  My voice will continue to be one for the restoration of Constitutional principles for our Republic, and it will continue to resonate throughout Florida and Capitol Hill.

I look forward to continuing to work with you and serve you in the battle ahead.

Steadfast and Loyal,
LTC(R) Allen B. West

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year from the Allen West Family 2011

Dear Patriot,

Angela, my two daughters and I would like to thank you personally for your unwavering support of our family as I took on this endeavor to serve you in our Nation’s Capital this year.

It has been an amazing year, thanks to your dedication and commitment to allowing me to serve our country.

After 22-years in the Army, there were many holidays for which I simply could not make it home to be with my family, so I don’t ever take this time for granted.

My thoughts and prayers continue to be with my brothers and sisters in arms who must spend this holiday away from their families.

The West family is truly blessed to have you behind us and please know that I am forever humbled by this opportunity to serve you.

May God be with you during this joyous season and here’s to an even better 2012.

Steadfast and Loyal,

The West Family
