Allen West “There are no words to express the unimaginable sorrow our nation feels today”

There are no words to express the unimaginable sorrow our nation feels today for the families of those who lost their children and loved ones. It is only through faith and prayer that we can ever make sense of the senseless, and I pray these parents and families will eventually find comfort knowing their children will have the eternal love of God’s embrace. As a nation we grieve for the loss of so many lives, and the loss of so much innocence. May God bless those souls who have come home to Him, and comfort those who feel their loss.

My wife Angela and I send our thoughts and prayers to those who suffered unimaginable loss today in CT. It is only through faith and prayer that we can ever make sense of the senseless, and we pray these parents and families will eventually find comfort knowing their children will have the eternal love of God’s embrace. Tonight, as a family, we grieve along with all of America, for the loss of so many lives, and the loss of so much innocence. May God bless those souls who have come home to Him, and comfort those who feel their loss.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Murphy Attempts to Suppress the Vote in Allen West Retabulation

Stuart, FL – West for Congress campaign manager Tim Edson released the following statement regarding Patrick Murphy’s lawyers’ attempt to get the 19th Circuit Court Judge to disallow the retabulation of early votes agreed to by the St. Lucie County Canvassing Board:

“In a last-ditch effort to suppress the vote, Murphy’s lawyers submitted sloppy and incomplete papers to the Court this morning to try to strong-arm the judge into preventing today’s retabulation already underway. The Murphy team’s motion is procedurally and substantively lacking. With every action attempted, Murphy demonstrates a complete lack of respect and utter disregard for the voters of St. Lucie County.

Murphy’s efforts bring to mind the dark times in our nation’s history when politicians tried to manipulate the law to suppress the votes, and we are appalled by Murphy’s apparent contempt for the voting rights of citizens to have their ballots accurately and fairly tabulated.

Murphy knows there are votes that have not been counted, but he’s taking legal action to ensure the results are certified anyway. Perhaps the Justice Department should investigate Murphy’s attempt to steal himself a seat in Congress at the expense of the voters in St. Lucie County.”

Rep. Allen West – Statement After Last Nights Presidential Debate “The Choice is Clear to Me”

“After a series of debates it is clear to me and I pray to my fellow Americans that the past four years have been a failure. Government does not invest, it spends and often wastes our tax dollars. Right now, America does not look like the great nation we know it should be. Our embassies and consulates have been attacked, and an ambassador has been murdered. Radical Islamists are emboldened and our allies feel abandoned. Quitting is not the means by which one ends a war. Americans do so by winning. To win we need a powerful military that is a deterrent and a force for good. And the Navy does require 313 warships Mr. President. We have more debt, more unemployed Americans, more Americans in poverty, and a diminished influence in the world. President Obama has failed and Governor Romney is correct in stating that attacking your political opponent is not an agenda, and certainly not a strategy. In order to ensure the promise of our Republic, the choice is clear….and it ain’t Barack Obama.” – Rep. Allen West via Facebook

VIDEO: “Patrick Murphy Doesn’t Belong in the Same Room as Allen West”

Stuart, FL – Today, Allen West for Congress released its latest television ad of the campaign titled “Veterans.”

“The contrast between a liberal rubber stamp and empty suit that is Patrick Murphy and the decorated combat veteran and principled leader Allen West is clearly explained in the heartfelt testimony of area veterans,” says West for Congress Campaign Manager Tim Edson. “The veterans who risked their lives for this nation have no doubt who is qualified to lead in Congress and who is fit to serve — and it certainly isn’t Patrick Murphy.

As one veteran so succinctly puts it, ‘Here’s a man who never put on the uniform, and he’s telling Allen West that he’s a coward? He doesn’t belong in the same room as Allen West.’

Patrick Murphy has called Allen West a coward but hides behind racist, negative attack ads financed by his father, whines when the truth about his family’s business dealings are exposed and runs from public debates where voters will be able to hear for themselves about his plans to gut Medicare and further weaken the economy. This ad lays out a clear choice for voters.”

Legislative Update:

•     Continuing Resolution— This past Thursday, the House passed legislation to ensure discretionary federal operations will remain funded for six months. H. J. Res. 117, the Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2013, which was approved by a vote of 329-91, would provide a six-month extension of appropriated funding for discretionary government operations, through March 27, 2013. Under current law, appropriated funding for discretionary spending is set to expire after September 30, 2012, the end of the fiscal year. According to CBO, H.J.Res. 117 would provide $1.047 trillion in regular appropriated funding for government operations on an annualized basis.  The funding in the CR is consistent with discretionary spending caps contained in the Budget Control Act (BCA, S. 365). Regular appropriated funding in the bill is $7.9 billion or 0.6 percent higher than FY 2012. Including funding for Overseas Contingency Operations/Global War on Terrorism ($99.9 billion) and disaster relief ($6.4 billion), total spending in the bill is $26.6 billion below total FY 2012 spending levels, according to CBO.

•    National Security and Job Protection Act—Also on Thursday, the House voted to repeal the looming sequester upon enactment of legislation to replace the automatic cuts with responsible reductions, by a vote of 223-196. H.R. 6365 would repeal the across-the-board defense and non-defense discretionary spending cuts scheduled to occur on January 2, 2013, upon the enactment of H.R. 5652, the Sequester Replacement Reconciliation Act of 2012, or any legislation that offsets the automatic sequester with equal or greater spending reductions over the next five years. The bill in and of itself would not repeal the sequester. However, it would ensure that if any legislation to replace the sequester with alternative spending reductions were enacted, the sequester would be shut off. In the event that the sequestration is replaced, the bill would lower the discretionary spending cap for FY 2013 from $1.047 trillion to $1.028 trillion

•    No More Solyndras Act—On Friday, the House approved H.R. 6213 by a vote of 245-161.  The No More Solyndras Act is a product of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s extensive investigation into the Department of Energy’s (DOE) $535 million loan guarantee to Solyndra, the California solar panel manufacturer that ultimately went bankrupt last September.  The committee’s investigation revealed DOE’s loan guarantee program to be poorly managed and lacking sufficient safeguards for American taxpayers.  Solyndra filed for bankruptcy on September 6, 2011, and two days later was raided by the FBI on September 8, 2011.

•    FISA Amendments Act Reauthorization Act—On Wednesday, the House approved H.R. 5949, a bill to reauthorize the FISA Amendments Act of 2008, by a vote of 301-118.  H.R. 5949 would extend the authority of the federal government to conduct surveillance pursuant to the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 until December 31, 2017.  The FISA Amendments Act of 2008 provided the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) and the Attorney General (AG) the authority to acquire foreign intelligence information from non-U.S. citizens outside the U.S. This authority is scheduled to expire on December 31, 2012, under current law.

•    Minnesota Education Investment and Employment Act—Last week the House approved H.R. 5544 by a vote of 225-189. The bill would require the Secretary of Agriculture to exchange federal land for land owned by the State of Minnesota. Specifically, the bill would require the Secretary to exchange approximately 86,000 acres (according to CBO estimates) of National Forest System land located in the Superior National Forest for approximately 86,000 acres of land owned by the state within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Under the legislation, land obtained by the federal government would be added to and administered as part of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Land acquired by the state would be deemed state trust lands and would be held in trust for development to benefit the Minnesota public school system.

This Coming Week:

•    Stopping President Obama’s War on Coal— The House plans to debate the Stop the War on Coal Act, H.R. 3409, to rein in the Obama Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) costly job-killing regulations, protect jobs, keep energy affordable, as well as prevent the premature closure of coal plants to ensure the lights stay on.  The bill would seek to limit surface mining regulations and would require regulatory analysis and a cumulative cost analysis of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules.  The bill would also allow states to regulate coal ash and would move the authority for setting Clean Water Act water quality standards from the EPA to the states.

•    Blocking the Obama Administration’s Welfare Work Waivers—The House is expected to consider H.J.Res. 118, “Providing for congressional disapproval of the Administration’s July 12, 2012 waiver of welfare work requirements.” According to a September analysis by the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Obama Administration’s decision to waive the welfare work requirements qualifies as a rule and is therefore subject to review – and potential disapproval – under the Congressional Review Act. This bill would express Congress’s disapproval of the Obama Administration’s regulatory effort that will waive the work requirements of the 1996 welfare reform law, hold the Obama Administration accountable, and preserve critical reforms that have helped lift millions of American families out of poverty.

Allen West is leading the fight in Congress against Obama, Pelosi and the out-of-touch, radical left

Dear Friends,

As I write this, we’re just $22,025 away from doubling our $100,000 goal for the DNC week. Will you push us over the finish line?

What we saw this week was incredible: a party that pushed us to a $16 trillion debt and pledged to dig us deeper. They promised more of the same policies that have resulted in unemployment over 8 percent for 43 straight months. They proclaimed that we all belong to the government and their delegates booed the inclusion of God and Jerusalem in their platform. Last night we saw an opportunistic

Last night we saw the failed former Governor of Michigan and MSNBC host literally go berserk on stage.  Joe Biden continued to spew nonsense that required the suspension of disbelief. And President Obama? He desperately tried to ignore the last four years and returned to the same empty promises of four years ago.

These people and their failed policies are dangerous and Allen is leading the fight in Congress against President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the out-of-touch, radical left. Stand with him today and help us reach our goal. Donate here:

Watch as Rep Allen West leads the fight against the radical left’s attack on God and Israel

Allen West is leading the fight against the radical left’s attack on God and Israel. Join the fight by contributing $1,000, $500, $250, $100, $50 or $25 here:

Dear Friends,

Yesterday, caught in their attempt to quietly throw the Jewish State of Israel under the bus in their party platform, Patrick Murphy’s Democrats dragged their party faithful kicking, screaming and booing to a vote to reinstate pro-Jerusalem language and references to God.

It was a cynical, political move to hastily pull a veil over their true beliefs. President Obama has attacked religion with policies forcing religious organizations to provide contraceptive services contrary to their religious beliefs.

His policies endanger Israel and his disdainful attitude toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and by extension, the Jewish people of both Israel and the United States, is reprehensible.

Your contribution of $250, $100, $50, $25 or $10 will help us fight back and expose the radical leftists running the Democrat Party for who they really are. Donate here.

Booing God and Israel? Are these the values of President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and their lapdog, Patrick Murphy? Make a contribution and watch the video. It’s truly disturbing and it’s motivation for the next 61 days.

Steadfast and Loyal,
LTC (R) Allen B. West
Member of Congress

P.S.We are closing in on our $100,000 DNC goal.  Help us cross the finish line strong!
