Allen West Asks Support For This Petition Against New Flying Cross Medal for Drone Pilots Higher than Bronze Star

WTP

The Pentagon is introducing a new medal to recognized the service of pilots of unmanned drones during combat operations. This medal will be placed in precedence order just below the Distinguished Flying Cross and just above a Bronze Star Medal. Bronze Stars are commonly awarded with a Valor device in recognition of a soldier’s service in the heat of combat while on the ground in the theater of operation. Under no circumstance should a medal that is designed to honor a pilot, that is controlling a drone via remote control, thousands of miles away from the theater of operation, rank above a medal that involves a soldier being in the line of fire on the ground. This is an injustice to those who have served and risked their lives and this should not be allowed to move forward as planned.

Rep Allen West on Iran “We are running out of time”

(WASHINGTON) — Congressman Allen West (R-FL) released this statement today:

“I have grave concern today that President Barack Obama and his Administration are continuing to jeopardize the safety and security of Israel, by saying one thing while doing another, when it comes to standing by the United States’ one true ally in the Middle East.

President Obama assured Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu yesterday that the United States ‘has Israel’s back,’ when it comes to defending Israel against Iran, yet the President stopped short of defining exactly what that entails. Today, the President tells Americans it ‘it is deeply in everybody’s interests — the United States, Israel and the world’s — to see if this can be resolved in a peaceful fashion.’  This President continues to talk from both sides of his mouth, and it is dangerous. Israel needs action, not more words from the President.

The facts are that Iran is not responding to increasing sanctions by either the United States or the European Union, and continues to proceed with building a nuclear arsenal. Iran is not interested in anything other than playing a stall game, a game that gives them additional time to fortify their defenses, and acquire the means to convert their knowledge into actual weapons.

We are running out of time and the President’s insistence to wait for a ‘diplomatic resolution’ with Iran, proves our Commander in Chief does not fully understand, or is simply ignoring, the imminent threat looming, and it is putting not only our friends in Israel at severe risk, but freedom and democracy as we know it. Recent history shows us that sanctions, no matter how severe, will not curtail a country’s effort to develop nuclear weapons, when its leaders are determined. North Korea, for example, has been subject to international sanctions since 2006. The regime is believed to be turning to illegal ventures, including the sale of weapons technology, to raise funding for its nuclear program.

The consequences of inaction, could lead to a nuclear arms race in the entire Middle East.

I see this Administration’s lack of commitment to stand up to Iran as a much deeper problem. This President has consistently shown a willingness to appease and apologize to radical Islamists. From writing a private letter to the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khameini, to issuing knee-jerk apologies concerning the American Military Koran burning, and most recently, allowing the United States to pay $5 million of taxpayer money to bail out pro-democracy activists facing charges in Egypt.

When is President Obama going to stand up publicly against this theocratic-political, Islamic totalitarian ideology with the courage and convicton that has made the United States the greatest country the world has ever known? After spending 22 years commanding United States troops, much of it the Middle East, I can tell you these nations only respect one thing- and that is strength. President Obama has yet to intimidate Iran, as evidenced by the country’s continual game- playing and testing our demands. Until President Obama stands firm, America, Israel, and democracy as we know it will continue to be at risk.

Iran is as dangerous as Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Imperial Japan, and the Communist Soviet Union once were, and it represents a clear and present evil in these times.”

Congressman Allen West speaks up about Obama, Boehner on Military and pathetic policies – Audio

WASHINGTON — Republican Florida Congressman Allen West had plenty of fire power to blast both his own House leadership and President Obama in a far-ranging interview Friday on the WMAL Morning Majority program.

West, an Iraq war veteran and member of the House Armed Services Committee, told WMAL that President Obama’s plan to slash defense spending “completely decimates the ability of the United States military to be able to support and defend this country.”

The Obama plan is designed to save money by having the military take on what Defense Secretary Leon Panetta calls “additional but acceptable risk.”  Congressman West says the policy shows that “the President is totally misguided and shows a level of incompetence that is absolutely unconscionable.”

“For us to believe that we just say ‘here’s going to be X amount of dollars, and this is just where we’re going to take risks,’ there are people all over the world who are enemies of the United States of America who are cheering right now,” said West.

The 22-year Army veteran, who retired as a colonel in 2004, told WMAL the President needs to crack a book or receive a tutorial about war.

“When you look at battlefield calculus, you want to have a 3-to-1 advantage over the adversary in order to be able to have a successful campaign,” said West. “So when we sit back and say we’re going to try to do things just with drones or just with special forces… We’re just violating every single principle of war.”

West also accused President Obama of bad timing in discussing the defense spending cuts.

Rep. Allen West Says Defense Cuts Would Send ‘Horrible Message’

By Hiram Reisner for Newsmax

Florida Rep. Allen West said Wednesday if the failure of the defense-reduction supercommittee leads to additional cuts to the Defense budget it would not only send a “horrible message” to Americans but also to “our adversaries and our enemies all across the world.”
“I’m very worried about it — speaking from experience — having lived through a period when the military was made a bill payer for the federal government, and we saw what happened as far as the reduction of ammunition, and fuel, and spare parts,” West, who served in the Army for 20 years, told Fox NewsShannon Bream.
“So I think that when you look at the fact that we have made the cuts to the military — $466 billion over the next 10 years — another $500 billion to $600 billion, especially when we’re asking our military to do more at this time, would send a very horrible message not just across this country but also to our adversaries and our enemies all across the world,” West said.
The former lieutenant colonel said it is critical that Congress makes provisions to avoid cuts in the Defense budget and that President Barack Obama goes along with a congressional plan. Obama said after the supercommittee announced it had failed that he would veto any attempt to get around spending cuts, which were built in to a failure of the debt-reduction panel.
“I think the president has to — the most important title that the president of the United States has is commander-in-chief,” West said. “And if he is willing to put politics over the men and women that we have in uniform serving all over this country that were asked to stand on freedom’s ramparts and protect us so that we could have a Thanksgiving, then I think the president really is misguided in his statement.
