As I awoke to this 12th remembrance of 9-11, I was saddened to learn the news of the passing of my Congressional mentor, Representative E. Clay Shaw. Congressman Shaw welcomed me to South Florida upon my retiring from the US Army in 2004. I will never forget meeting him the first time and getting his blessing and endorsement to run in the congressional district which he had represented for over 26 years. Congressman Shaw was there with me the night of our victory in 2010 and sat beside me on the House floor the day of my swearing-in. E. Clay Shaw was truly an American Statesman, great husband, and tender father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed by so many and I shall continue to pursue the restoration of the America he so dearly loved. Fair winds and following seas Sir, Steadfast and Loyal.
“To ensure the voters are provided an opportunity to hear exactly where you stand, I challenge you to a series of four debates: one debate in each of the three counties that encompass the 18th Congressional District, and the fourth debate in the geographical center of the district in Martin County,”West wrote in a letter to Patrick Murphy.
“Each debate will have a separate and specific focus: two debates will focus on economic security, another on energy security and the final on national security,”West added.
Congressman Allen West blasted Robert Crowder, his Republican opponent in the upcoming 18th Congressional District race. He also took a few swipes at the Palm Beach Post in a scathing letter that the Post chose to publish on July 3rd.
In the letter, West said he would not accept requests by Crowder to debate him. “I refuse to waste the voters’ time by dignifying Crowder’s cynical political maneuvering.”
West also explained why he refused to interview with the Palm Beach Post editorial board, calling them “elitists so blinded by ideology they are incapable of an intellectually honest discussion ”
He called the board “elites” a second time, describing it as out of touch with its readers.
Referring to the voters, West said, “I will not waste my time and theirs with career politicians who seek office only to feed their egos. Or with panels of self-appointed elites who pontificate about what they believe is best for their readers and the millions of individuals who make our nation so great — yet about whom they truly know so little.”
Congressman Allen West Announces Reelection in the Proposed 18th Congressional District
(WEST PALM BEACH)- Congressman Allen West (R-FL) released this statement today announcing his decision to seek reelection for the United States House of Representatives in the proposed 18th Congressional District:
“After much prayer, reflection and discussion with my close friends and family, I am announcing today my decision to seek reelection in Florida’s proposed 18th Congressional district. I have always believed the state of Florida would be best served by having both Congressman Tom Rooney and myself in the House of Representatives working to solve our nation’s most pressing problems. I have never waivered from my vision; to work to create jobs, restrain federal government spending, reduce America’s ever increasing national debt, and provide for a strong national defense to ensure a safer and more prosperous future for our children and grandchildren.
Congressman Rooney is a statesman and has been an honorable public servant to the constituents of Florida’s 16th Congressional district. It is my goal to continue the success Congressman Rooney has had in Florida’s 16th Congressional district in the newly proposed 18th district. I welcome the challenges and excitement that lie ahead.
As a 22-year United States Army veteran who commanded troops in combat, one should never underestimate my ability to be a strategic thinker. My voice for the restoration of constitutional principles for our Republic shall continue to resonate through Florida and on Capitol Hill.”

Rep. Allen West: ‘I Won’t Turn My Back On My Country’
I am asking each and every one of you to get ACTIVE, quit saying you are passing this around the social networks. CLAIM THIS, take the time to contact these GOP Presidential Candidates by email, phone, fax, whatever means necessary and tell them, they MUST choose Congressman Allen West. Allen West on a GOP ticket will alter the course of these elections and will put someone in the White House that will only help our nation begin it’s journey back to it’s original roots.
I am asking you to not only get this out there in the social networks but get this viral and get up off your butts, dial that phone, send that email or even ALL of the above. Encourage everyone you know that it is imperative that we act now, considering the options set before by the mainstream media, the electorate, the caucus, the polls etc…
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz — proud liberal and Democrat National Committee chair — is like a gift that keeps on giving — but you just want to take it back to the store.
Last week, Schultz basically blamed the Tea Party for the horrific shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. Here is what she said.
“We need to … tone things down, particularly in light of the Tucson tragedy … where my very good friend, Gabby Giffords — … [was shot],.” “The discourse in America. . . has really changed, I’ll tell you. I hesitate to place blame, but I have noticed it take a very precipitous turn towards edginess and lack of civility with the growth of the Tea Party movement. … You had town hall meetings that they tried to take over, and you saw some their conduct at those tea party meetings … when they come and disagree with you, you’re not just wrong, you’re the enemy.”
So there you have it. We’re “the enemy” and when we speak our mind, people get shot.
I want to make three things very clear. First, my family continues to keep Rep. Giffords in our thoughts and prayers. Second, I condemn all violence — it has zero place in American politics. And third, the Tuscon shooting had nothing to do with the Tea Party or conservatives. It was a depraved act carried out by one very sick individual.
I won’t stand by and listen to this type of attack on Americans who want to speak their mind, and you shouldn’t either. There are two things you can do right now.
1) Call Debbie Wasserman Schulz’s office right now at 202-225-7931 and tell her you’re sick and tired of the ridiculous statements she makes.
****** UPDATE: AFTER CALLING DWS OFFICE we were advised this “the complaint about the AZ shooting has to be to the DNC 202-863-8000”
Schultz’s attacks on us and our movement show the level she is willing to approach in an attempt to discredit us and essentially squelch free speech.
I for one am not intimidated. I’ll continue to have town hall meetings, and welcome a spirited and civil debate about the future of this nation and the direction we want to go. The voters — and our democracy — demand nothing less.
