Rep Allen West “I’m very happy with the type of district that I have here in District 22,”

BOCA RATON — With the Republican-controlled Florida legislature proposing redistricting maps that would throw him into a more Democrat-leaning district, U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation, told a homeowners group this morning that he’d like his District 22 to remain the way it is.

West, whose home in Plantation is outside the boundaries of the current District 22, also told the group that his wife was recently looking at houses in Boca Raton.

“I’m very happy with the type of district that I have here in District 22,” West told a crowd of about 50 at a Federation of Boca Raton Homeowner Associations meeting.

West’s Palm Beach-Broward district is nearly evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans. But proposals released by state House and Senate redistricting committees would make his district roughly 41 percent Democratic and 33 percent Republican by registration.

The close partisan balance of his current district, West said, means “I’ve got to go out and I’ve got to present myself to people.”

In districts that heavily favor one party or another, West said, “people can just go right down the line and say ‘This is how I’m going to be’ because they don’t have to worry about ever not being reelected. So I think that we’ve got to look at how do we make these congressional districts competitive so that people have to get out there and present their ideas.”

Congressman Allen West Launches Online Constituent Outreach Program Using Technology From Boca Raton Firm

Cutting-Edge Technology Will Improve Efficiency of Constituent Communications
(FORT LAUDERDALE) – Congressman Allen West (R-FL) announces the launch of a new online constituent outreach program today, enabling  him to reach thousands of his constituents more efficiently and cost-effectively.

The outreach program will utilize online advertising and state-of-the-art software technology developed by Boca Raton-based ion interactive to promote the Congressman’s work in Washington as well as his communications and email newsletters.

Online advertising is not only more cost-effective and ecologically-friendly than traditional paper mail, but the program will provide more relevant information to constituents, by better targeting their concerns and issues.

“We have a duty to communicate with our constituents, but we have a responsibility to ensure we are using the most cost-effective methods available,” West said. “New media technology gives us unprecedented opportunities to open up a dialogue with our constituents and help us better represent them in Washington. We’re pleased to utilize technology developed by a successful small business right here in our district.”

Founded in 1998, ion interactive employs 27 people in its Boca Raton headquarters, and last year was ranked # 202 in the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing private companies. The company’s “LiveBall” software platform is used by hundreds of global companies to create and optimize landing page programs for hundreds of millions of visitors.

Allen West Official Congratulation’s to Lynn University on Securing Presidential Debate

(WASHINGTON)– Congressman Allen West (FL-22) released this statement today congratulating Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida for being selected as the venue to host the last Presidential debate next year:

“Today all South Floridians – especially those living in Boca Raton and the surrounding communities – have reason to be especially proud, as one of our own universities – Lynn University- located in Congressional District 22 has been selected to host the final 2012 Presidential Debate.

After visiting Lynn’s campus and meeting with University administrators earlier this year, I quickly realized the potential for Lynn’s Wold Performing Arts Center to be a candidate to host the Presidential debates.  I immediately took the lead in drafting a bipartisan and bicameral letter signed by every member of the Florida Congressional Delegation to the Commission on Presidential Debates in support of Lynn’s application.

After months of waiting, I am pleased, although not surprised, to learn that Lynn University has been chosen, and I have no doubt that Lynn will rise to the occasion and make all of South Florida proud.

The state of Florida has historically been a major decision maker in a number of national elections throughout our nation’s history and will be a critical state for both parties in the upcoming Presidential election. Securing the final Presidential Debate for the 2012 election is further reason to recognize the importance of the State of Florida in this decisive time in our nation’s history.

The eyes of Americans and all people around the world will be on both Florida and Lynn University during  the critical last few days of the 2012 Presidential election.”
