Congressman Allen West Weekly Wrap Up, Video & Article of The Week

Dear Patriot,

Greetings to our constituents, fellow Floridians, and all Americans. As I wrap up the previous week I am first and foremost thinking about my brothers in arms-  praying that my Marine brothers and sisters had a great 236th Marine Corps birthday, and my fellow veterans had a superb Veterans Day.

Veterans Day was a memorable day that will not come again for another 100 years, as we witnessed the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in the 11th year.  May God continue to bless those who were willing to make that last full measure of devotion to our beloved Constitutional Republic, the United States of America.

This past week was a very engaging week in our Congressional district. Americans are paying attention and concerned with everything from domestic economic to foreign policy and national security.

Most concerning right now is the news that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) submitted a formal report confirming Iran is marching closer to having a militarized nuclear device. There is no doubt this is a 21st century Chamberlain-Churchill moment for the United States and the world. We must come to grips with understanding the theocracy behind the motive in Iran.
History has certainly proven that compromise, appeasement, and negotiations are ineffective means to persuade dictators, despots, autocrats, and theocrats. America must present a credible military threat, option, and presence to Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Khamenei. This is why “zeroing out” an American military capability in Iraq makes no strategic military sense. Still, for President Obama it does make political expedient sense, and that in my opinion is the obvious reason for his decision.

During my trip to Israel this past summer, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed to the Congressional Delegation the importance of retaining an American military presence in Iraq, to stymie any regional, hegemonic expansion of Iran. There is no doubt that Israel has the capability to take unilateral action against Iranian aggression and the country’s nuclear program.  Israel has shown the ability to do so, as in Iraq and Syria. However, it is a different time. When one considers the “off microphone” comments exchanged between French President Nicolas Sarkozy and President Obama, reported here, there is grave concern. The comment by Sarkozy referring to the Prime Minister as a liar was very disturbing, but the fact that Iran and other enemies of Israel know of these comments is unconscionable.

Presidents Sarkozy and Obama owe Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Israeli people an apology. Not only were their comments disrespectful, but they also endanger the security of the modern day State of Israel. They must wholeheartedly reaffirm their commitment to the Jewish State of Israel, lest they be seen as emboldening and enabling the enemy.  As long as their statements remain, Prime Minister Netanyahu has to be concerned whether a unilateral action against Iran will have French and American support.

Meanwhile, America’s economic situation continues to be a grave concern. We once again saw the Campaigner-in-Chief take front stage with the self-serving decision to table the $7 billion Keystone XL pipeline project. This pipeline project had undergone extensive environmental scrutiny and is determined to have minimal impact, as certified by the Unites States Department of State. A focused march towards our energy independence is a national security, economic, and employment issue. Americans win in all aspects with the construction of the pipeline. The estimation for putting people to work for this project is between 20,000 and 30,000 jobs.

It is obvious President Obama is making decisions that are not necessarily best for the country, but best for his reelection. He has clearly shown that the environmental lobbyists, along with Hollywood elites, are more important to him than struggling Americans. We have seen average gas prices go from $1.83 to $3.43 during his term, yet all we get from the President and his administration is crony capitalism and misconceived venture capitalist endeavors supporting their own ideologically-driven energy agenda.

The problems stem beyond the President.  This past week we saw Democrat members of the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction walk out of discussions after Republican members, led by Pennsylvania Freshman Senator Pat Toomey,  proved the budget is able to produce revenues by lowering marginal tax rates and eliminating loopholes. Senator Toomey had evidence to show leaders can hold capital gains, dividends, and estate tax rates where they are. By reducing the highest personal income tax rates by 7% from 35 % to 28%, doing the same across all tax brackets, and taking corporate tax rates from one of the highest in the world of 35% to 25%, there is hope to reform the tax code.

As you may know, the federal government saw a 6.5% increase in revenues last year, yet we still ran another record $1.3 trillion deficit. As I’ve said before, Washington DC does not have a revenue problem, it truly is a spending problem.

If there are some out there who still don’t believe America is truly in a crisis and this Administration and its policies are taking us in the wrong direction, I ask you to look at Greece and Italy and compare the debt to GDP ratio– an indicating factor of true crisis and chaos- America is not far behind. Greece has an unsustainable debt to GDP ratio of 128% – the Greek people have now forced Prime Minister George Papandreou out of office. Italy has a debt to GDP ratio of 120% and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has been forced out. America has a debt to GDP ratio of 101% and we will not be able to sustain this much longer.  When will President Obama see that his policies are only taking us down the same road as these countries???

In closing, I want to share with you some clear examples of why Americans, when left to their own ideas and “choice” to help those less fortunate, will trump Federal Government programs any day.

Within the past week I attended events with those “Evil One Percenters” you know, those folks who hold all the wealth in America — yes, those same rascals who pay 38% of all federal taxes. The Faith, Hope, Love, and Charity event in Palm Beach Gardens raised money for the “Stand Down House” – a program for homeless veterans and their families. The charity has already furnished an apartment for a former homeless and jobless female veteran, allowing her to stand on her own, and this is just the beginning.

The Wounded Warriors Second Chance organization out of Jupiter, Florida, provides Wounded Warriors and their families a vacation getaway in sunny Florida. Watch a news clip on the weekend fundraiser here.  The money raised allows the wounded to enjoy our beautiful South Florida sunshine and beaches, and find a moment of peace and solace.

I also attended the 24th Annual Yacht Rendezvous for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County. Here again were those selfish, fat cat “One Percenters” raising funds to expand Boys and Girls Clubs in Broward County and the after-school education and dinner programs. The result of these programs are higher graduation rates and fulfilling the Boys and Girls Club motto… “From backpacks to briefcases.”

Unlike President Obama and the liberal progressives with their goals of creating and expanding government dependency, the “One Percenters” don’t create more victims, they create victors! These victors expand the American entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit!

Steadfast and Loyal,

Conservative Tea Party humans vs leftist Occupy Wall Street savages – Eric Golub Tygrrrr Express

by Eric Golub  The Tygrrrr Express

LOS ANGELES, October 24, 2011―If ever there were crystal clear evidence of liberal bias in the news media, the differences between the way the Tea Party was portrayed in 2009 and the glowing tributes to the savages occupying Wall Street would be it.

So for those not infected with the media bias virus, an honest unfiltered lens is needed to show how divergent these movements are.

Despite attempts to paint the Tea Party as astroturf, the Tea Party really was a grassroots movement. It started after a trader on CNBC named Rick Santelli angrily suggested in a now famous rant that Americans should have another revolution by throwing tea in the harbor again.

Ordinary Americans came by the thousands to rallies all over the country, and they were united by one simple message. America was broke, and the people were “taxed enough already.” Politicians of both parties had to cut spending. The message never changed. Everything came down to cutting spending. Eighty year old ladies in wheelchairs were concerned that their grandchildren would not have the American dream. Tea Party attendees were trying to preserve the American way of life.

Pitting Us Against Each Other by Walter E. Williams via Townhall

By: Walter E. Williams

President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party have led increasingly successful efforts to pit Americans against one another through the politics of hate and envy. Attacking CEO salaries, the president — last year during his Midwest tour — said, “I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money.”

Let’s look at CEO salaries, but before doing so, let’s look at other salary disparities between those at the bottom and those at the top. According to Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list for 2010, Oprah Winfrey earned $290 million. Even if her makeup person or cameraman earned $100,000, she earned thousands of times more than that. Is that fair? Among other celebrities earning hundreds or thousands of times more than the people who work with them are Tyler Perry ($130 million), Jerry Bruckheimer ($113 million), Lady Gaga ($90 million) and Howard Stern ($76 million). According to Forbes, the top 10 celebrities, excluding athletes, earned an average salary of a little more than $100 million in 2010.

According to The Wall Street Journal Survey of CEO Compensation (November 2010), Gregory Maffei, CEO of Liberty Media, earned $87 million, Oracle’s Lawrence Ellison ($68 million) and rounding out the top 10 CEOs was McKesson’s John Hammergren, earning $24 million. It turns out that the top 10 CEOs have an average salary of $43 million, which pales in comparison with America’s top 10 celebrities, who earn an average salary of $100 million.

Congressman Allen West speaks to Coconut Creek residents – national debt, education, Israel

Alyssa Cutter acutter@tribune.com

What does the United States’ national debt, education and Israel have in common? They were all topics that Congressman Allen West talked about in his Town Hall meeting in Coconut Creek on Sept. 27.

West spoke to a crowd of about 200 about the need to stop the excessive spending in Washington and how new business regulations were going to hurt small businesses.

“We cannot continue to go down this road of more government spending. In July, federal government set down 600 new regulations that will cause small business and companies anywhere up to about 10 billion dollars to become compliant,” West said. “The [Environmental Protection Agency] is looking to hire 230,000 new regulators that will cost the American taxpayers about $21 billion with all of these new regulations they’ve been sending down over the last couple of years. We’re going in the wrong direction.”

Many in the audience agreed with West when he talked about how the education system in America wasn’t what it should be. He proposed partnerships between schools and professionals in the workforce for good students to get apprenticeships in a field.

Why I believe in the Tea party by Rob Rosasco (Allen West, Marco Rubio, Pam Bondi and more)

by Rob Rosasco – ROBERTAROSASCO@AOL.COM

America’s oldest political demonstration formed the roots of the tea party today. In 1773 American colonists, furious over a British tax on tea, dumped a shipload of British tea into Boston harbor.

Conservatives of both parties and Republicans in particular are part of the tea party movement because government spending and taxation are out of control. Spending and borrowing have created an unprecedented debt that threatens our nation. These are the driving principles of the tea party.

The tea party message has resonated across the country and in 2010 the election results were dramatic. Republicans took control of congress and most of the new members were tea party activists. In Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Gov. Rick Scott, Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Rep. Allen West won with tea party support. And across the country over 700 new conservative legislators were elected. Most were Republican.

The tea party has awakened thousands of citizens to the important issues facing our nation. These new activists are studying, learning about self-government and getting involved in the political process. They attend town hall meetings and are contacting their elected officials.

All this has alarmed the left, which is now using all their old angry rhetoric from the past. The left is angry because they love big government. They believe that government should make more decisions for us and that we are not capable of governing ourselves. Last Wednesday, Leonard Pitts stated the left’s position perfectly. “The new Republicans and tea party people are anti-government, anti-Muslim, anti-gay, anti-science, anti-tax, anti-facts and anti the new demographic represented by a dark skinned president (meaning blacks).”

These are angry, absurd and inflammatory statements. Republican and tea party people are not anti-government. To do away with government is anarchy and they believe in the Constitution and this excellent form of government. But they do believe that government must be reduced in size.

De-Bunking Tea Party Myths: An Interview with Katrina Pierson – by Debbie Georgatos TexasGOPVote

by Debbie Georgatos of TexasGOPVote.Com

Over this past summer, I spent a week with a longtime friend who has always voted Democrat, and who volunteered early on in 2009 that she realized she made a big mistake voting for President Obama. While we normally do not discuss politics, I mentioned during our summer visit that while I am a still a conservative Republican, I also support the Tea Party. Her response (beside a look of shock and puzzlement) was “I don’t think we should talk about that….”.

Which leads to one of the points of the interview below.

Opponents of the Tea Party’s political message — of fiscal conservatism and adherence to the Constitution — mislead Americans by knowingly misrepresenting, muddying and distorting that message and the messengers. Democrats in Washington, D.C. and even in the great state of Texas have resorted to a time-tested strategy to fight the Tea Party’s message: they label the Tea Party “racist.” It is hard to think of a more terrifying label in American political life, which is why liberals who shudder to think of fiscal conservatism and adherence to the Constitution, resort to using this most toxic of verbal assaults. From a Democrat Texas State Representative, to Congressional Black Caucus spokesperson Maxine Waters, who said that the Tea Party can go straight to hell, to many others on the Left, the Tea Party’s critics hope to fight the group’s growing influence by branding them with one of their sure-fire lethal monikers. Most notably, such Tea Party criticism is rarely accompanied by informed, thoughtful analysis or proposals to counter the fundamental Tea Party message.

Enter Katrina Pierson, a Tea Party organizer who serves in leadership capacities in the local North Texas Tea Party, at the state level in Austin, and in Washington, D.C. A nationally recognized leader among the intentionally unstructured Tea Party movement, Katrina grew up in a family that relied on the redistribution of wealth system, which the Tea Party fights to change. She entered politics with a passion in 2009, largely due to President Obama’s entry into the national political scene. Katrina is hardly alone in her role as a black American who supports and is supported by the Tea Party. Just here in north Texas, Pastor Stephen Broden, a 2010 candidate for US Congress in a district south of the heart of the City of Dallas, and who is African-American, was and is among the most popular speakers in Tea Party circles, and he is not the only one.
