Allen West’s Campaign Manager, Tim Edson, released this statement regarding Murphy’s desperate and increasingly ridiculous excuses

 PATRICK MURPHY
CONTINUES TO RUN FROM ALLEN WEST’S DEBATE CHALLENGE

Stuart, FL –  Today West for Congress Campaign Manager, Tim Edson, released this statement regarding Patrick Murphy’s desperate and increasingly ridiculous excuses for refusing four substantive debates with Allen West:

“On August 15th, Allen West challenged Patrick Murphy to four substantive televised debates open to the public.  Murphy spent several days desperately searching for debate hosts and formats he believed to be favorable.  His response made clear he is trying to dodge serious debates with Allen West.

Now Murphy is refusing to debate Allen West if rebuttals are included in the format. Apparently Patrick Murphy is unfamiliar with the purpose of a debate.  Without rebuttals, Patrick Murphy would be able to mindlessly repeat the talking points of Nancy Pelosi and his political handlers.

Patrick Murphy doesn’t want to debate because he knows he will embarrass himself, given his ignorance on the issues. Instead, Patrick Murphy wants to hide behind his father’s dishonest, racist attack ads and political handlers who tell him what to say, when to say it and how to say it.  Patrick Murphy is an empty suit. He feels entitled and expects his father to buy him a seat in the United States House of Representatives.

Considering Patrick Murphy and his campaign are so dependent on his father, if it would make Patrick Murphy more comfortable to have his father at his side, Allen West would be happy to debate both of them at the same time.”

Allen West’s debate challenge stands. The West Campaign looks forward to negotiating the details of four substantive debates. The moderators should be unbiased, the debates should be open to the public and they should be televised. It’s time for Patrick Murphy to tell voters where he stands on the issues.
